If you’ve been a wrestling fan for even a short amount of time, you’ve heard about Jim Cornette. In the 80s and 90s, he was the manager for a couple of wrestlers but mainly managed tag teams such as the Midnight Express and the Heavenly Bodies. During this period, he was involved in booking being heavily influenced by Bill Watts and Jerry Jarrett. He’s been on the creative team of national promotions and booked two promotions he co-founded.
Jim Cornette Winds Up
All of that in a career spanning over 40 years. Since the 2000s, Jim Cornette has been heavily involved in podcasting and interviews. One interview with Kayfabe Commentaries as part of the YouShoot series saw host and KC owner Sean Oliver ask him about his most hated in the business.
Yes, it’s the segment where a talent puts their most hated people in the business on the board. Only five can make it and the guest has to go into why they’re on the list. With Corny, it took a while. There were a number of people he didn’t care for and several people that Sean named were more annoyances to Corny than anything.
The Rogues Gallery
So, we finally saw his sh** list in all its splendor. I mean, it could be considered splendor if we factor in both how they were added to the list and why Cornette can’t stand these guys. The usual suspects are there with Vince Russo topping the list. His history with Russo is known and even if this is an old video, he has in fact gotten healthier and is on track to possibly of living long enough to urinate on Russo’s grave.

If there’s a positive to that it’s that Jim is in better shape than he was in the late 90s. Also on the list was Jim Herd whose interference in and influence on the booking in WCW saw him bounce on the promotion in 1990. At that time, Corny was on the company’s booking team. Another familiar foe is Kevin Dunn.
Now, I’ve never actually heard Dunn speak at length but there’s never a time when Cornette passes up doing his Bucky Beaver impersonation of him. His main gripe involves his time on WWE’s booking team and Dunn’s direction clashing with his own booking philosophy. This was during the end of the New Generation into the Attitude Era. This also goes back to the root of his issues with Russo as well for similar reasons.
Corny’s B-Villains
Rounding out four and five are Ed Ferrara and Mark Madden. Corny was never in a promotion at the same time as Madden. He was running Smoky Mountain by the time Madden got to WCW. The root here is with Madden exposing the business on WCW’s hotline and discussing Cornette’s personal business and that of Smoky Mountain.
Both would eventually talk and Cornette wasn’t there to be civil. Ferrara is someone Corny was indifferent towards until the Oklahoma gimmick which made fun of Jim Ross following his first stroke.
As you’d expect, most of the people on this list have their opinions on Jim Cornette. With the expectation of Russo, Corny won’t really discuss them unless someone brings them up or discussion segues into these guys. These five are long removed from the events and issues that landed them on Corny’s list.
With that said, their violations are so atrocious in his eyes that he’ll remind you of why he feels they sucked when he was deep in the business and why they still suck now…following decades or so of not dealing with them personally.
