AEW Dark continues. Just like last week, we have Rey Fenix in action, facing off with the Captain Shawn Dean, of whom we’ve also seen quite a bit of these past couple of months. I’m always up for seeing Fenix go. And I can’t get over seeing the massive explosion of pyro here on Dark, I’m glad Fenix is just that big of a star that he demands it, it’s quite the fire show too.
Rey Fenix vs. Shawn Dean
Lock-up, Dean wants a headlock but Fenix with a wrist lock cinched in. Got control of that arm. Hammerlock, hooks the other arm as well, Dean escapes and takes him into a headlock. Fenix down to his knees. Slips back up. Body shot, wrist lock escape. Dean cartwheels out of it, Fenix kips up out of a trip attempt but Dean surprises him with a dropkick that takes him to the ropes! Dean salutes and hits the ropes but Fenix runs with him, springs himself off the ropes and Dean turns right around into a perfect Hook Kick! Fenix mounts him and rains down punches, Cross Armbreaker applied but Dean gets to the ropes immediately. Takes him to the corner, MASSIVE overhand chop to the chest!
Fenix trying for a brainbuster, Dean escapes with a knee, takes him to the corner, nails a high knee… Fenix leaps to the top rope but an enziguri takes Fenix to the floor! Dean hits the ropes, big tope! He actually overshoots it by quite a bit but barely catches Fenix. Chops him into the barrier, throws him into the ring – except Fenix rebounds right back out, leaving Dean by himself. Up to the apron, Fenix with a roundhouse kick, roll-through dropkick! Working over the head, arm and legs with a complicated hold. Hoists him up, Dean escapes to the canvas but eats a roundhouse kick to the head! Fenix hits the ropes, Dean tries to side step but Fenix springs to his feet on the ramp, overhand chop, flips into the ring but Dean catches him out of the air, upside down in a scary moment! Tiger Driver for a 1 count?!
Dean with a forearm to the face. Fenix daring him to do more. Dean keeps going. Fenix yells “Give me a good one” and Dean takes off his elbow pad to give him his best elbow, Fenix kips up into a ruthless thrust kick taking him to the corner! Springing Spin Kick to the face! Hoists him up for the Black Fire Driver and that is that!
