WWE Main Event is an often forgotten show under the WWE banner, and many are shocked to hear WWE is still taping matches for this program. But every week before Monday Night RAW, WWE still tapes two matches which allow some underused talent to get some shine in the ring. This weeks episode kicks off with veteran vs. rookie action, as R-Truth faces the up and coming Cal Bloom. With R-Truth having almost been wrestling as long as the 26 year old has been alive, this will be an interesting one.
Cal Bloom Shows His Potential
Truth would start the action by applying a headlock to Bloom, before being pushed into the rope. He would stop himself from going into a punch, but the strong Bloom would push him in the corner before the referee would separate them. Bloom would rush back into Truth, but eat a quick uppercut who would gain control. This wouldn’t last long as Bloom would beat Truth down with forearms before hitting a textbook scoop slam, before slamming the face of Truth into to the turnbuckle. Not to be outdone by a rookie, Truth would hoist himself over Bloom after he was thrown across the ring, and hit an arm drag followed by a hip toss. After some cocky taunting, Truth would hit a leg drop for a one count.
R-Truth Is Timeless
Keeping control, he would force Bloom into the corner and rain some punches down on his opponent, who would shove Truth off and flapjack him into the top turnbuckle. Bloom would hit a beautiful Butterfly Suplex and choke Truth over the bottom rope with his knee, before dropping some rope assisted stomps into the chest of Truth. Once Truth would get back to his feet, he would honor his childhood hero John Cena, as he would hit two diving shoulder tackles, ducked under a clothesline to hit a spin-out powerbomb, before hitting the Five Knuckle Shuffle.
Sadly, he would not get the 260 pounder up for the Attitude Adjustment, and would instead be pushed into the ropes and hit with a power-slam for a near fall. Signalling for a powerbomb, Bloom would hoist Truth up, but the crafty veteran would slip off the shoulders and show his power when he hit Bloom with the Attitude Adjustment for the win.
This was a well fought match from both men, and one that showed Bloom’s potential much better than his minute long squash against Sheamus. Do you think Cal Bloom will become a major talent for WWE in time? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
