Ever since he would slam the NXT Championship into the head of Tomassao Ciampa, Johnny Gargano has been a changed man. Gone is the man who will give his all for the fans, now he is taking what he wants. This should lead him to championship glory in NXT once again, but first he needs to shut up his detractors. One person who has been speaking ill of Gargano is Dominic Dijakovic, who challenged Gargano to a match this week on NXT. Who would win when two of the best in NXT clash? There would be a massive height and weight advantage for Dijakovic, but never count Gargano out.
Dijakovic Uses His Size Advantage
Gargano would goad Dijakovic on to start the match, using his speed to zoom around the ring and deliever some well placed punches. A double leg take-down would be attempted on Dijakovic, but Gargano would be lifted up with ease. He would weasel his way out and throw some kicks the leg of Dijakovic, but a single forearm sent him down to the mat. A huge knee to the ribs would be followed with Gargano being thrown across the ring, but it would only get Dijakovic a one count.
After countering a charge into the corner, Gargano would leap off the top rope over Dijakovic and seemingly hurt his knee. This would be a clever ploy to get Dijakovic to ease off, as Gargano would hit a forearm to the face and gain control of the match, his knee perfectly fine. A chop-block to the knee of Dijakovic would hurt his knee however, as he would relentlessly maul his opponent. Everyone is the same size on the ground, and Gargano would chop his opponent down to that size, but a discus lariat from Dijakovic would quickly even the odds. Back to their feet, Dijakovic would throw Gargano across the ring again with a release vertical suplex, getting another near fall.
A Clever Distraction
Gargano would be beat down around the ring, with his head being slammed into the turnbuckles and elbows being rained down on him. Candice LeRae would make her way down to ringside, and after a back-breaker she would distract Dijakovic giving her husband a chance to push Dijakovic over the top rope, crashing hard on the apron before Gargano would take him down with a suicide dive. This would put control back with Gargano, as his wife now cheers him on. A big boot into another series of big forearms would give Dijakovic some space to breathe, and a Cyclone Boot would put Gargano down for a two count.
Gargano would crawl over to his wife, and clasp her hands as she tried to pull him away from his opponent, but Dijakovic would again throw Gargano across the ring. LeRae would distract once again, but Gargano would be caught as he flew in with a crossbody, only to be hit with knees and be thrown away. However, Gargano would counter into a rollup this time and pull the trunks, which lead to a two count. An attempted superkick would lead to Dijakovic countering and getting Gargano into position for Feast Your Eyes. Gargano would avoid impact, hit a superkick for another close two count.
Johnny Gargano Takes Advantage
With Dijakovic down and his wife distracting the referee, Gargano would take the padding off one of the turnbuckles. He would take too long and be caught by the official, then walk right into a huge sit-out Chokeslam for a very close two fall. Looking to end this, Dijakovic would scale the ropes only for Gargano to chase after. He would attempt a top rope Sunset Flip Powerbomb, but Dijakovic would just backflip off the rope. After being sent back into the corner with a huge kick, Gargano would finish uncovering the turnbuckle cover, and as Dijakovic would attempt a powerbomb, Gargano would send him face first into it with a frankensteiner. Hitting his One Final Beat DDT, Gargano would finish off Dijakovic in this hard fought match.
