Ever since he was plucked away from NXT before it was his time, Apollo Crews has been floundering in WWE. Since leaving Black & Gold Brand in 2016, Crews has only had a small handful of title chances or even times to showcase his skillset. This has seemingly changed since he recently moved to Monday Night RAW. He would impress in an epic match with Aleister Black, qualify for Money In The Bank beating MVP, and then fall to injury during a title match with Andrade. After months of being squashed by Sheamus on Smackdown Live for months, Crews was already ready to snap. Will this injury push him over the edge and turn him heel for the first time in his WWE career?
MVP Seems To Be Starting A New Faction
With his in-ring career starting to wind down, MVP is looking to remain on TV going forward. He has always been an elite level talker, making him a perfect fit to become a manager. Recently he motivated the Aussie Duo of Brendan Vink & Shane Thorne to a victory over Ricochet & Cedric Alexander, making them ideal clients. MVP has also been trying to help out Apollo Crews, showing no hard feelings after Crews would beat him for the slot in Money In The Bank. Crews has always lacked the mic skills to make him a star, and having a mouthpiece like MVP would instantly solve this glaring flaw.
Apollo Crews Being Replaced In Money In The Bank Was Always The Plan
While many were angered by Crews seemingly being screwed out of his chance at Money In The Bank, this was always the plan. The Money In The Bank match was taped sometime during the week of April 13th, with AJ Styles involved. It was always the plan to have Crews qualify for this match, and then be taken out before the show would happen to replace him with AJ Styles. The surprise return of AJ after the Boneyard match was a great moment, and he is now the favorite to win the Briefcase and challenge Drew McIntyre. If we can also get a storyline with Crews out of this, it will be a win-win. He was never likely to be the winner of the briefcase, so having an outside chance to raise his position on RAW will not harm him.
Do you think Apollo Crews will work as a heel, with MVP doing the talking for him? Who else should MVP look to recruit for this budding faction? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
