WWE Monday Night Raw rolls on. For some unGodly reason we see the Viking Raiders riding in a car with giant chicken legs singing a song about themselves. It discusses them being large men with beards that should be feared, worshipping Thor and bringing people to the floor, and generally talking about how much they love being vikings. It seemed to be intentionally in the tune of the Spongebob Squarepants theme for some reason. It’s uh, one of those times where I’m a little embarrassed for the people on-screen. Anyway out comes MVP for his MITB qualifying match against Apollo Crews.
Montel says he’s seen a lot of superstars literally rise and fall in pursuit of that Money In The Bank briefcase. Earlier tonight we saw Aleister Black earn his way to the match. Later on tonight we’ll see a true legend in Rey Mysterio take on Buddy Murphy for a shot. But now, we have MVP against Apollo Crews. Puts over Crews as an incredible athlete but he’s now out of his league. MVP says when they were coming up on Money In The Bank, they called onto someone who has experience with MITB matches and experience with wearing suits… says he already had his agent book the flight to Stamford because he’s just that confident he’ll make it to Money In The Bank. Apollo Crews interrupts him before he can go on any longer.

Crews with a quick series of dropkicks. MVP to the apron, calls for a timeout but gets hit with a charging dropkick that takes him to the floor! Crews tries to setup an Asai Moonsault but Crews clips his leg and trips him onto the apron! Crews is writhing in pain on the floor as we go to commercial break. As we come back, Montel is working Crews over with a Camel Clutch! Crews fights to his feet, drives MVP into the corner! But he explodes out of the corner with a lariat that flips Crews over, cover for a nearfall! Crossface blows to the face as MVP starts name dropping people he’s faced off with, the likes of Rey Mysterio, Kane… hooks him for the Playmaker, Crews reverses for a Spinebuster!
Crews with a charging clothesline in the corner, batters him with forearms! Mafia Kick, clothesline! And there’s the Powerslam for a nearfall! Mark Henry style Front Slam, goes up top but MVP with the knees up on the Frog Splash! There’s the Playmaker… but Crews kicks out!! Wow that kinda had me, even with it seeming beyond obvious that Crews would win! MVP with the Ballin’ Elbow now but Crews interrupts it with a kip-up into an enziguri! And there’s the Military Press, Standing Moonsault into a Standing Shooting Star Press!! Finally, the Sit-Out Blue Thunder Bomb gets him the victory!

Very solid match! MVP does his job well of making people look good, even that moment where he took a second to remind folks all the guys he used to feud with was ultimately to put Crews over when he won.
