While he’s mainly working in AEW these days, it’s important to remember that Kenny Omega is also the AAA Mega Champion. This is the top prize of AAA, one of the top lucha libre promotions. Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, he was good for defending the title regularly, and since then has last defended it on an episode of Dynamite against Sammy Guevara. He’s also defended it within AEW against Jack Evans on an episode of Dark. He’s at 253 days as champion currently.
Now, we’re starting to see some rumblings of a future match for Kenny Omega in AAA, as one of their biggest stars hypes up a match with the Best Bout Machine, this being Larado Kid.

Larado Kid is one of the rising stars of Lucha Libre, and has worked with AEW in the past thanks to the light partnership between both companies. He last appeared at the 2019 Fyter Fest, where he teamed with The Lucha Bros to face the core of The Elite, Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. It was a fantastic match, one of the best from the early days of AEW. Larado Kid was a last minute replacement for PAC, who is now aligned with Lucha Bros finally.
Larado Kid was very impressive in this match, but AEW would shift their focus to signed talents, and put the AAA relationship on the backburner for a while. However, it’s not stopping the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion from looking for some action. “Some people ask me if this match will be possible, I think only 2 companies could make it possible? @luchalibreaaa @AEWonTNT @TonyKhan”
It would be a huge match in either AAA or AEW, really a main event anywhere on the planet. It would be their first singles meeting, something rare for big matches.
It is more likely we see Pentagon Jr. or former champion Rey Fenix get a shot before Laredo Kid, due to their deeper involvement with AEW.
