On Smackdown Live, one of the key parts of the tag team division when Jey Uso would be injured at Wrestlemania 36. This came as part of an excellent ladder match alongside Kofi Kingston and John Morrison, but unfortunately, Uso would be out for 9 months following this. Many would assume that his brother Jimmy would vanish from TV as well, much like Akam from Authors Of Pain with Rezar on the injured list. However, this past weeks episode of Smackdown gives fans hope of him getting a singles run.
The Usos Are A Reliable Act For WWE
Having more tenure than any other active team within WWE, The Usos have proven themselves time and time again to be one of the most reliable groups in WWE history. You send The Usos out, and they’re going to have a decent match. That is just how things work when it comes to them. Add in their relation to names like The Rock & Roman Reigns, and you have a team who WWE will use until they can’t no longer. While neither man has ever had a chance to break out on their own, this injury to Jey could be just what Jimmy needed.
A Strong Showing On Smackdown For Jimmy Uso
On this past episode of Smackdown, Jimmy got two good chances to shine. One was a show of his charisma backstage during the town hall type meeting after the attack on Elias, and the second was being one of the final men in the battle royale to decide who would face Daniel Bryan in the main event of the evening. That would be won by Sheamus, but Jimmy got a great singles showing.
We do have to entertain the option that WWE is just using anyone on hand to the best of their abilities with their now limited and reduced roster. They released many of their stars, and others aren’t able to show up to work at the moment. Because of this, combined with his reliable track record (albeit as a tag team star), Jimmy Uso could find himself a solid midcard talent who we see get some shots at the WWE Intercontinental Championship in the next few months.
