During their triple threat match against Michael Elgin, Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan had the chance to work together to settle their beef with Elgin. Unfortunately, they chose to turn on each other in one of the hardest hitting matches of the night. But that and their losing didn’t stop Madison Rayne from continuing her backing of Shamrock and Callihan teaming up.

Missed opportunity
A couple of weeks back, Shamrock offered Callihan his hand in a show of sportsmanship and possible friendship, but Elgin attacked before we could see the outcome. The mutual dislike is apparent, especially after Callihan grabbed Elgin’s arm to keep him from tapping out to Shamrock’s ankle lock.
But if we really look at it, it doesn’t seem as much dislike as two men looking to prove they’re better than the other. It’s a tall order for both men, as Shamrock not only looks great for his age (56 years old), but he’s as fierce competitor-wise as ever, and still a threat in the ring.
Callihan is one of the best younger wrestlers in the Indies, and he always puts forth his best efforts, as shown when he and Elgin put each other over as tough guys by standing toe-to toe. Not that Callihan needed to prove it after his “Stone Cold” Steve Austin moment when he passed out instead of giving up to Shamrock’s ankle lock at Rebellion.
Caught in the middle was Elgin who managed to steal a win and has exited this feud for the time being. This leaves us wondering what’s next for Callihan and Shamrock, but if they do team up, what kind of mayhem could they cause?
Not to be denied
Since walking out and giving up his role as leader of oVe (Ohio Versus Everything), Callihan has been looking to put himself back in the heavyweight championship discussion. A proven master manipulator, Callihan’s character would be an interesting partner for the somewhat straight-laced Shamrock.
This would be Impact’s version of the Mega Powers or Two Man Power Trip, and it’d give Callihan and Shamrock a chance to really stir the pot in the tag team division. Considering Impact’s tag team division could use an injection of talent, this could be just the thing to get the Rascalz, The North, and Deaners’ attention.
Of course, we can’t look past the implications down the line, as these two wouldn’t last long, and having them take the belts off The North would be a mistake. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t have an awesome match with a possible disqualification win for Callihan and Shamrock.
Though they’d win, it’d create some tension between them, and when they eventually disagree with how to finish an opponent things would erupt. And with a potential influx of talent they’ve been teasing for Slammiversary, they’ll have some fresh faces to square off against.
As fun as them teaming up sounds fun, it also feels like a reach. It’d be far more fun to watch them go head to head a few times until someone enters the fray and forces them to come together.
Hence, the new names coming in like a possible rivalry with EC3 or Michael Bennet, assuming they signed with Impact.

However it works out, things are looking up for Impact.
