This Sunday at NXT Takeover: In Your House, there will be something missing from the card. Ever since NXT Takeover: Respect in October 2015, there has always been a tag team title match on the card. Almost five years of tag team epics later, and we will not be seeing one at In Your House.
Breezango Won A Shot For ‘The Future’, Not NXT Takeover
On the latest episode of NXT TV, there was a triple threat tag team match between a returning Breezango, Undisputed Era, and Lorcan & Burch. In the end, after a Supermodel Kick into the diving Leg Drop known as ‘The Last Dance’, Breezango would earn their first NXT Tag Team Title shot. Many thought this would come at Takeover, but as the card is now set, the only tag team action will come in the form of a six woman tag match. Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox & Mia Yim will clash with Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez to fill the tag team gap.
Do They Need Time To Build Up Breezango?
While Breezango is a popular act in WWE, always providing laughs and great matches to fans, they have only had one match since returning from injury. They might be #1 contenders, but WWE might want to air some video packages about Fandango coming back from injury to build up the sympathy for them as they face the hard hitting heels of Imperium. We could see them win the titles even, with this happening infront of an actual audience.
Why Not Just Have Lorcan & Burch Challenge?
If building up Breezango for the title match was the issue, the solution was simple. They have been building up Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch as contenders for weeks now, even airing video packages to show who they really are. Add in the fact that a match between them and Imperium would be hard hitting and fast paced, and you have the recipe for a perfect Takeover match. These packages could have just been to finally build them up as true contenders, especially if rumors of Undisputed Era leaving the brand are true.
