On the latest episode of NXT, we would see the return of Fandango. In his first match back alongside Tyler Breeze, they would defeat two of the top teams in NXT, those being Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong) & The Brit-Am Connection (Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan) to become the number one contender for the NXT Tag Team Championships. They were on the climb before Fandango got injured, and many have believed that they would have won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team classic.
The Broserweights Were An Odd Choice As Victors
When it came to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic earlier this year, the field was weird for sure. We had teams from NXT UK like Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews, Grizzled Young Veterans & Gallus, a return of The Timesplitters with Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA, and the Broserweights forming for the tournament. It was a great tournament, but you can’t help but feel that The Broserweights were a replacement act for someone. We almost certainly would have seen Breezango enter the tournament, with them likely replacing either The Broserweights or a team like The Forgotten Sons.
We had precedent for thrown together teams winning the tournament, dating back to Samoa Joe & Finn Balor winning during the first time, and Ricochet & Aleister Black winning last year, but sticking two singles star together isn’t the best idea for a lacking tag division where you need to bring in NXT UK talent to fill spots. Breezango would have made more sense
Breezango Were On The Rise At The Time
Between their humorous and bombastic entrances which had them dressing in various jobs in the vein of their Fashion Police gimmick, to both men being well respected veterans of the NXT system, we very well could have seen them as the winners at the time. It would have been the first title win of both men in WWE if they won and went to the PPV, a massive feel good moment, especially for Tyler Breeze. Many agree he should have been NXT Champion during his peak in NXT before being called up to the main roster.
Do you think we would have seen Breezango win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team classic if Fandango didn’t get an injury? Would Broserweight have existed if that injury didn’t happen? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
