WWE NXT Results: Finn Balor vs. Cameron Grimes

Cameron Grimes is a name on a constant rise within NXT, and his recent win over Finn Balor has him soaring high. He only won due to Damien Priest getting involved, and now that Balor has defeated him, he wants revenge on Grimes as well. Grimes pissed off Priest earlier in the show, so he won’t have backup this time, and got a shot to the face for his troubles. He tried to get out of this match, but William Regal said no. Can he prove he’s Balors equal without backup, or with his near fatal injuries after being hit once by Priest?

Cameron Grimes Had A Date With The Prince Already

Having previously faced Balor, Grimes knew how dangerous his opponent would be going into this match. He’d take the catious route going into this one, and it would pay off early with him getting the advantage on the battered Balor. However, Balor would gain control with some quick offense, with a percise kick to the back and a chin lock being all it took. Grimes would fight back out, only to be shut down with hard chops from Balor, running into them with the crowd chanting for more.

A nasty takedown would put Balor down, and a running knee strike would put the match back in the control of the Technical Savage. He’d look for a Sunset Flip, but Balor would roll through and hit a dropkick. More chops from Balor on the outside would grind Grimes down, but getting back in the ring first let him rebound with a big lariat. He’d slow it down with a rear chinlock, and ensure Balor couldn’t slip out. Once he’d get back up, he’d throw Balor hard into the corner before the commerical break, but remain in control through it.

Finn Balor Hits His Second Gear

A huge knee to the stomach would keep things in the corner of Grimes, but his bragging would piss Balor off. A jumping forearm would be followed by a double stomp on the ground. The slingblade would drop Grimes again, and he’d be blasted with the Jon-Wo dropkick and Balor would go high for the Coup De Grace. This would miss and Grimes would nearly steal the win with a rollup. They’d battle for control, but Grimes would hit a spin-out slam for a near fall.

He’d look for the Cave In, but Balor would dodge and hit a reverse 1918 for the near fall. Going to the top once again, the Coup De Grace would be hit perfectly, and the 1918 would plant Grimes on his head. Balor redeemed the loss, and they’re now at 1-1. While looking down the mic, he would call out Keith Lee for a future title match.

This was an incredible match, and showed how equal both men are. With a win a piece, you have to wonder if a tie-breaker is coming. Should Balor & Grimes go for one more, for a definitive winner?  Will Balor just move on to chasing the North American Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
