Right now, FTR is on a rapid rise through the ranks of All Elite Wrestling. Just this week, they would defeat The Lucha Bros after a fantastic tag team contest, when Dax Harwood would roll up Rey Fenix after pulling the mask off. It was a dirty win, illegal in some promotions, but a win is a win. This makes their third tag team victory, and it won’t be long before they meet Kenny Omega & Hangman Page, but could this be a risky match for AEW? FTR have revealed that they only have a Handshake Deal with the company.
FTR & AEW Are Working Off Mutual Trust
While on the Wrestling Inc podcast, they would speak about their contract situation, which is shakey at best.
“The pandemic – that’s the only restriction we have right now and hopefully things are gonna start lightening up soon. But yeah, it is almost a handshake deal. Tony trusts us and we trust Tony. We’ve had a lot of conversations with a lot of different guys and Cash and myself are extremely excited about the opportunities we have in front of us. As he said, the only restriction is the pandemic which is obviously a huge restriction. But we have our fate in our hands right now. We get to call the shots and control and say what we want to do when we want to do it.”
Right now, they could go anywhere they could for a match. They could show up at Slammiversery to answer the open challenge of The Rascalz, return to NXT to take the tag titles from Imperium, go to Mexico to rip more masks off. However, they’re doing well in AEW, and will likely sign a more solid contract soon. But, they’re a hot commodity right now, one of the best tag teams in the world. Any company who respects that match type would love them, and for good reason. You see that reason every time the bell rings.
