Slammiversary Update
Impact has been in the news lately with releases following accusation from the #SpeakOut movement, but the latest controversy has to do with former Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard. She’d ben scheduled as part of a five way championship match at Slammiversary on July 18, but those planes have changed.
She reportedly didn’t record five promos she was asked to from her home in Mexico, so the company fired her and vacated the world championship. In an event that is already minus Michael Elgin due to his suspension/release, this gave the company’s pay-per-view main event a shaky feel for many fans.
But on Impact, Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne announced that a new champion would be announced at Slammiversay. The match will be between Eddie Edwards, Ace Austin, Trey, and a mystery opponent we’ve been given hints about but nothing definite yet. Looks like we’re going to have to wait and see, though our money is on it being Eric Young. They already teased EC3 with Moose and the TNA World Championship, but this doesn’t mean it couldn’t be EC3 or someone else.

Chris Bey vs. Suicide
Chris Bey is looking to build a head of steam heading into his X Division Championship match with current champion Willie Mack at Slammiversary, and with Johnny Swinger at his side, he’s as dangerous as they come.
Possibly the best match of the night saw Suicide start fast, even taking out Swinger and Bey outside the ring with an over the rope flip. The action then goes back and forth as we get to see a pair of great talents at work. It looked like Suicide had things won and was preparing to end things from the top rope while Bey held his leg and played injured on the mat.
With the referee distracted and Suicide sitting on his perch unable to go through the official to get to Bey, Swinger pushed Suicide off the top rope. Bey’s injury miraculously healed and he rushed over to his Suicide with his Famouser finisher for the one… two… three.
Anyone notice how Suicide seems to keep losing through shiftiness of his opposition the first time around?
While celebrating the match backstage and Swinger saying how easy it is to fool the referees, they’re approached by the referee, Brandon Tolle. Swinger started thanking him for the great job he did, but Tolle cut him off and said he couldn’t bride him and banned Swinger from ringside at Slammiversary. Looks like it’s going to be Chris Bey and Willie Mack straight up. Should be a great one, barring anymore shenanigans over the next 19 days.
