Lion’s Break Collision returns Friday night for a third episode after last week saw the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) debuts of The DKC and Danny Limelight. Rust Taylor returned to NJPW after not appearing since December 2006 on an original NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo event.
In the marquee of the July 17, 2020, Lion’s Break Collision event, Rocky Romero faces “Filthy” Tom Lawlor who in making his NJPW debut. Tom Lawler has earned respect for his intense style and will look to secure a long-term role in NJPW against the long-time company veteran who has had a great deal of success inside of an NJPW ring.
Romero is a former eight-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, two-time Ring of Honor (ROH) Tag Team Champion, one-time National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Junior Heavyweight Champion (as Black Tiger), and a one-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion (as Black Tiger).
Lawlor will hope to use his Mixed Martial Arts background to make up for his professional wrestling experience deficit against Romero, who is attempting to stay in form for an eventual run at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

The opening match of the event features The DKC and Misterioso against Karl Fredericks and NJPW LA Dojo Young Lion Clark Connors. Misterioso has been a regular on New Japan of America (NJoA) events and is making his first appearance on Lion’s Break Collision, while his partner looks to build on an impressive performance against Rust Taylor.
Karl Fredericks will look to keep his moment as he teams with former NJPW LA Dojo mate, Clark Connors. If Fredericks is to be a threat against Jeff Cobb in an eventual singles encounter, he will need to look sharp against Misterioso and The DKC.
