The former General Manager of 205 Live is home, but this time as an active member of the roster. Ever since saving his WWE career during the Cruiserweight Championship tournament, Maverick has had some serious issues like Legado Del Fantasma.
Santos Escobar has putten him down many times now, and it’s made it hard to get any momentum flowing. So instead of rushing right back into them, Maverick will look to take on NXT Performance Center hopeful, Leon Ruff. Can Maverick finally get back on track?
Leon Ruff Won’t Make It Easy
While Leon Ruff is a talented wrestler in his own right, he was outmatched standing across the ring from someone like Drake Maverick. A bad back after repeated Phantom Drivers could make for a target, and Ruff is getting better and better with every appearance. He was wincing in pain just taking his coat off.
Ruff & Maverick would lock up, with Ruff going for some early pinning predicaments to try and end this one early. Maverick would get the arm and force Ruff down to the mat, then grab a chinlock. He’d transition into a hammerlock, but a hard elbow to the face broke that one up.
Drake Maverick Doesn’t Waste Any Time
Ruff would rush in, only to be dropped by a hard lariat. Maverick would get moving, and hit a single leg dropkick. Sending Ruff into the corner, he’d rush in with a forearm and come out with a bulldog. A big senton to the back, a sunset flip bomb into the corner would act as a prelude.
Maverick would perch on the top rope, and hit a big elbow drop off the top rope and get a much needed win. While Isaih ‘Swerve’ Scott is next in line for a shot at Santos Escobar, it’s clear to everyone that Maverick won’t rest until he gets another chance to become NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
