Nothing like kicking off the final week leading to a pay-per-view than some WWE Raw to help set some matches and possible double crosses.
Getting started
We start with the VIP Lounge with the new Unites States Championship on display on a chair leading up to MVP vs. Apollo Crews at Extreme Rules.
MVP really talked up his guest, Dolph Ziggler, for helping take a bum Drew McIntyre from the streets to championship glory. We get a brief recap of last week’s altercation between Heath Slater and McIntyre brought about by Ziggler trying to mess with McIntyre’s head.
Back with MVP and Ziggler, the mutual schmooze fest started with Ziggler wanting to change and present the WWE Championship after he wins it, and MVP said he’d turn him onto his people.
TO enhancement talent boos, Ziggler commenced describing how he pulled McIntyre out of the gutter and made him into the man he is. “Without me, Drew McIntyre doesn’t beat Brock Lesnar in the main event at WrestleMania” and so on.
MVP then thanks Ziggler for what he did in a clear ripoff of Chris Jericho when he first went to AEW.
Party’s just starting
Of course, McIntyre’s music plays and he comes out.
Once in the ring, McIntyre apologized for “interrupting this little a$$ kissing ceremony.”
McIntyre says he did a lot of soul searching since last week and he came to the conclusion that Ziggler uses people, that they were never friends. McIntyre was his hired gun.
McIntyre promised to hurt, main, and torture him until he begs him to stop and laid everything that’ll happen at Extreme Rules will be on Ziggler.
McIntyre wants some action, and while he says he can wait until Sunday, he knocked out Ziggler with one punch.
What’s funny about this is Dolph Ziggler keeps saying how he’s responsible for McIntyre’s success, even giving him the nickname the Scottish Psychopath. Never in his wildest dreams did Ziggler ever expect his actions would reawaken Scottish Psychopath in all his glory. Or did he, and is that part of his plan for Extreme Rules?
Looks like we’ll have to wait and see. A pretty cool way to start WWE Raw.
