With Dolph Ziggler now taken care of, we get to figure out Drew McIntyre’s next opponent starting tonight on WWE Raw.
Or maybe next week, if our theory pans out.
There are several possible feuds McIntyre could enter into like with Kevin Owens, Aleister Black, and Andrade, but none of those really feel right.
The possibilities
We’ve already seen Andrade try his hand against McIntyre early in the WWE Champion’s reign. Granted the buildup based on their NXT days was short, hurried, and meh at best, and the match didn’t fare much better.
Kevin Owens would be an interesting one, but we don’t see another face coming after McIntyre. Not for SummerSlam, and in all fairness to Owens, it’s another one that feels wrong. Like it’s not a good fit. We love Owens, but this is just not something we feel would work at this time.
Alesiter Black is deserving of going to the next level, but he’s a perfect fil for Seth Rollins going forward, it would be a shame to take him out of that equation. Of course, assuming he and Rollins finished up by Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble would be perfect.
The obvious choice would be to bring Back Brock Lesnar. The fact their WrestleMania match was plain out bad shouldn’t play into it. They deserve to have a good match, so Paul Heyman should stop with the statement matches if this would happen. Let them wrestle a legitimate match.
This is doubtful as there are various reports online that Lesnar isn’t ready or interested in coming back yet. This could change any day since Heyman’s demotion and the fact he’s probably trying to get Lensar back so he can get back on television.
This leaves a pretty awesome option. In our minds, at least.
The Viper
We fully expect Randy Orton to defeat the Big Show tonight and add another notch on his belt. Given the lack of legends around for him to add to his list. This would be the opportune moment for him to target the biggest growing legend in the Chosen One, Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre has stated it’d one of his dreams/goals to wrestle Orton, and they could put on a match of the year quality of performance and it’d be the big named opponent McIntyre needs to face at SummerSlam.
There’s little doubt it’d be the main event WWE needs, and fans would really enjoy it.
Besides, we have to have the top face and top heel face off, right? It’s not only the right thing to do, but it’s the best option available.
The kicker here is we won’t know if this’ll happen for another week or two, and McIntyre will probably face someone else during that time. Maybe a rematch with Ziggler tonight or something along those lines.
Who do you think of a McIntyre-Orton feud?
