Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s WWE Smackdown Live Recap! I’m your host, CP Bialois, and thank you for joining us tonight.
Segment 1:
We start off with Michael Cole inviting Matt Riddle out to the ring for an interview.
King Corbin interupted the interview after Riddle shared why he doesn’t wear shoes (he had frost bite as a child).
After trading insults, Corbin calls out John Morrison with the Miz to face Riddle.
Segment 2:
An decent match where Riddle and Morrison exchange blows and holds with several near falls that Riddle kicked out of.
Riddle then stopped seeling Morrison’s kicks, so Morrison poked him in the eye and they exchanged falls before Morrison dropped Riddle out of the ring.
Outside the ring, Riddle got up and smacked Corbin across the face with his fliflop, incensing Corbin but the refree wouldn’t let him in the ring.
And here comes the commercial.
Segment 3:
Morrison survived a couple of falls before the Miz and Corbin’s distraction attempts failed, and Riddle rolled him up for the win.
Outside the ring. AJ Styles then attacked Riddle from behind, and Drew Gulak attacked Styles triggering a brawl prior to the Intercontinental Championship Match.
Segment 4:
Intercontinental Championship Match – AJ Styles (c) vs. Drew Gulak
Syles dominates the match for the most part, showing a more aggressive side while the commentators continue saying losing to Riddle is stuck in his head.
The match goes to comemrcial after Gulak hit with a baseball slide outside the ring.
Segment 5:
The match continued with Gulak in control, but after several counters and near falls, Styles hit with a Styles’ Clash and then a Phenominal Forearm for the pinfall win.
Styles wanted to send a message and did so, but who is it for?
Segment 6:
Bayley and Sasha Banks came out talking their usual smack, claiming the Undetaker called Bayley last week saying they are redefining what it means to be a champion.
They also showed us a tribute to Sasha Banks and Bayley in a typical highlight film that was well done along with some self-bragging included.
According to Banks, Bayley is better than Trish Stratus, John Cena, and Lita. This should get a reaction from fans.
Alex Bliss and Nikki Cross came out to mock and confront them in a promo for Cross and Bayley’s Smackdown Woman’s Match at Extreme Rules. It resulted in Banks volunterring Bayley to give Cross a preview of Extreme rules after the commerical break.
Segment 7:
Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss
Bliss controled early one, but Bayley took over and it became more of Bayley mocking Nikki Cross until she intefered and Bayley won via disqualification.
Segment 8:
A recap of last week’s Bray Wyatt and braun Strowman exchange and a mention of the Wyatt Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules
Kofi Kingston w/ Big E vs. Shinsuke Nakamura w/ Cesaro set to begin after the commerical break.
Segment 9:
Why was Cesaro’s music first when he’s not competing? Sounds like a whoopsie behind the scenes.
The match started off with Kingston gaining control, but Nakamura quickly took over.
Outside the ring, Big E and Cesaro got into an altercation, causing the referee to boot them both from ringside.
Segment 10:
A good back and forth match was won after Nakamura counted a Trouble in Paradise and hit with a running knee.
Big E came out to save Kingston from going through a table at the hands of Cesaro and Nakamura.
Segment 11:
Sheamus toasts Jeff Hardy
Haryd’s music didn;t play when he came out. Curious.
From the safety of the titantron, Sheamus’ toast is a craptastically mocking display as he tries to get Jeff to go back to drinking. They exchange some banter before Jeff poured the glass of champagne he was offered over the bartender’s head, hit him with a bottle from behind, then hit with a swanton bomb off the top rope.
Now Jeff’s music plays in a very bad, lackluster, and painful to watch segment. It’s a sad ending for what was a decent show.
Guess we can’t win them all. What did you think about it?
