We return and Corbin, Miz, and Morrison are backstage where Corbin says he’s going to pull some string to cut the legs out from under Riddle’s career.
Styles and Gulak are already in the ring, meaning the IC match took backstage to putting Riddle over.
Styles continues to have the advantage, and Styles worked Gulak over with kicks and forearms rather than getting into a wrestling match.
Gulak started to turn the momentum, but Styles closed the door and locked in a reverse chin lock. Gulak got to the ropes, and Styles continued hammering on him when he broke the hold.
New Styles
Styles is a lot more aggressive now.
Daniel Bryan joined the commentary team through Zoom, and shared his thoughts on how Gulak and Styles were well matched as both are great at targeting a weakness.
Gulak fought back again, but a dragon whip to Gulak’s left knee left him hurting, and Styles continued to work the leg, preparing it for his Calf Crusher.
Gulak refused to give in, fighting back and pushing Styles into the ropes before he managed to lock Styles in a crossface type of submission, but Style managed to reach the ropes.
Outside the ring, Styles is frustrated, and the commentators continue saying how Matt Riddle in in Styles’ head.
Gulak hit with a baseball slide as we go to commercial.
We’re back from commercial, and Gulak is in control in the ring, hammering on Style in the corner. Styles sidesteps a shoulderblock and Gulak hit the ring post. Gulak then kicked out of a pin following a brainbuster.
Styles remains in control while on Zoom, Daniel Bryan explains that he was attracted to having Gulak as a coach because he’s a better technical wrestler than he was.
Styles hit with a running backbreaker, but Gulak kicked out again, and Cole questioned when does the frustration build in Styles.
Gulak bought himself a breather by dropping Styles face first into the turnbuckle. Gulak then hits with four dropkicks followed by a modified driver, but Styles kicked out.
Styles countered Gulak’s charge at him in the corner and hit with a Styles’ Clash, but Styles didn’t go for the pin. Intent on making a statement, Styles dragged him to the ropes and draped him over the top rope.
Styles hit with a Phenomenal Forearm for the pin and win.
