When AEW announced Fyter Fest would be a two night event this year, and not a PPV, WWE seemed to start their counter programming. Bringing back the Great American Bash branding, they’ve thrown together a major two night event. Night two will be headlined by NXT North American Champion Keith Lee facing NXT Champion Adam Cole in a Winner Takes All affair. However, that’s still a week away, and this week is not going to be completely overshadowed. What does night one have in store?
A Dream Match In The Main Event Of Great American Bash
A few weeks back, Sasha Banks & Bayley would come to NXT to defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. They would win their match over Tegan Nox & Shotzi Blackhart, but spend too long celebrating in Io Shirai’s ring. The NXT Women’s Champion would fly into the ring, and send the former champions packing, saying this is now her NXT. Sasha Banks feels without her, there wouldn’t be an NXT and has called out Shirai. Tonight in a non-title match, these two will clash. Two of the best wrestlers in the company, this one will be one to watch closely.
Oney Lorcan Looks To Kick Timothy Thatchers Ass
Every time Oney Lorcan steps into the ring, you see someone who was never told wrestling is fake. The same can be said of Timothy Thatcher. This week on NXT, we might see our hardest hitting match ever as these two meet for the first time in a major promotion. With four indy wins a piece, they will look to show they’re the better man in NXT. Thatcher hasn’t wrestled since his cage fight with Matt Riddle, and Oney has mostly had tag team matches, but you won’t see any hesitiation when the bell rings in this one. Try not to blink, you could miss a knockout.
Naming A Number One Contender For Io Shirai
In a match many expect to happen next week to supplement Keith Lee vs. Adam Cole, Io Shirai will defend her championship. This will be against the winner of an elimination style Fatal Four Way match, featuring Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox & Dakota Kai. They’re four of the best in the brands stacked tag team division. Add in them as the two big non-title feuds in the division collide for extra sizzle. Anyone can win this one, and it’ll be impossible to call before an arm is raised.
We will also see Rhea Ripley potentially join Robert Stone Brand after a mixed handicap match with Aliyah & Stone, and Dexter Lumis will be attached to Roderick Strong with a strap. What match are you most looking forward? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
