The headline match of the August 9th Summer Struggle event a Korakuen Hall saw Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) members IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental V2 ‘Double Champion’ challenger Tetsuya Naito and Bushi take on Bullet Club members IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship V2 challenger Taiji Ishimori and IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion‘ Evil.
The tension between the two sides after Evil’s defection to Bullet Club remained present as the two teams scrapped against one another. The match would end as a disqualification after IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi ran out to make the save for Naito who was being attacked by Dick Togo, Ishimori, and Evil at the 10 minute and 57-second mark.
The fourth match of the event saw Golden Ace (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kota Ibushi) Hiroyshi Tenzan, and Master Wato defeat Suzuki-Gun members IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) El Desperado, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
The competitive match saw Tanahashi connect with the High Fly Flow for the first time in a number of matches. He used the technique to gain the fall on Kanemaru at the 12 minute 45-second mark.
The third match saw LIJ member NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi and Sanada defeat the Suzuki-Gun team of Minoru Suzuki and Douki when Sanada pinned Douki at the 12 minute and 9-second mark with an O’Conner Bridge. Sanada picks up another victory as his path towards a match with Evil draws a step closer.
The second match Satoshi Kojima, Yuji Nagata, and Ryusuke Taguchi defeat Great Bash Heel (Togi Makabe/Tomoaki Honma) and NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yota Tsuji at the 9 minute and 47-second mark when Kojima used a Lariat on Tsuji to gain the fall.
The opening match saw Bullet Club members Yujiro Takahashi and Gedo defeat NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yuya Uemura and NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd at the 8 minute and 32-second mark when Yujiro used his Pimp Juice technique on Uemura.
