This past Saturday evening, we would see an epic main event between Karrion Kross & NXT Champion Keith Lee, with Kross coming out on top after an avalanche Doomsday Saito. It was his first long match in NXT, with other matches generally being less than ten minutes, and there was a reported shoulder injury. With him opening NXT this week, we might already be seeing the end of his reign, with him coming to the arm with his right arm in a sling.
Karrion Kross Vacates The Championship Due To Injury
After getting a mixed reaction on this way to the ring, he’d accept the microphone from Scarlett. He told us again and again, and warned us that everyone would suffer on his way to the NXT Championship. At NXT Takeover XXX he made good on his word, when he pulled the NXT Championship off Lee’s carcass.
When you go to war, you need to expect casualties. His shoulder is separated, and he’s in searing pain, though he loves it. However, he knows that WWE won’t let him defend the championship in this condition.
On the path, there are obstacles, but for Kross the obstacles are the path. He’d leave the NXT Championship in the ring with an hourglass. “Let this be a warning, this changes absolutely nothing. Doomsday is still coming.”
God help the obstacles that will be in his path, because once his shoulder is better? He’s coming back to become a two time champion.
What Will Come Next For The NXT Championship?
This makes Kross the shortest reigning NXT Champion in history, finally taking that accolade away from Sami Zayn. We don’t know what is coming for the NXT Championship, likely a tournament ending at the next NXT Takeover Event. Kross is likely to be out for a few months at best, over six months at worst.
There are a ton of talented wrestlers on the brand who are ready for the NXT Championship. Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa, Bronson Reed, KUSHIDA, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and more could all step up.
