Hello and welcome to this week’s WWE Smackdown Live Results and Recap!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and thank you for joining us tonight.
This should be a fun episode as we continue to gear up for SummerSlam, coming August 23!
Segment 1
Big E vs. Morrison followd a recap of Retribution’s antics the last couple of weeks.
Despite claims of more security, Retribution swarmed the ring, chased off CMichael Cole and Corey Graves, beat Big E and Morrison down, and took off.
THe Miz then came out to check on Morrison.
Will we have this match and where was the Miz? We’ll find out after commercial.
Segment 2
Backstage, Big E tried to rally the troops, with King Corbin, Sheamus, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura staying behind.
Triple Brand Battle Royal introductions were started, and Asuka was one of them. She chased Banks and Bayley out of the ring as we headed to commercial.
Segment 3
An awesome match, it came down to Asuka and Baszler before Asuka won. She’ll face both women’s champions at SummerSlam.
Segment 4
Mandy Rose gave an impassioned speech about her past and challenged Sonya Deville to a Hair vs. Hair match at SummerSlam.
Segment 5
Sheamus sent security home, saying he had things. Will that come back to bite him?
Sheamus vs. Shorty G
This was a solid, but mainly one sided match that Sheamus won with a Brogue Kick.
Segment 6
AJ Styles brought out the Phenomenal Intercontinental Statisic System (P.I.S.S) – It’s a name in progress that showed no one was worth facing him for the IC title.
Jeff Hardy came out and issued his challenge when Style refused him.
Could be match at SummerSlam.
Segment 7
Gran Metalik vs. Shinuke Nakamura
A decent match ended when Kallisto returned and he and Dorado took out Cesaro, and Gran Metalik pinned Nakamura.
Segment 8
Shorty G distracted Matt Riddle with an apology so Corbin could hit him from behind.
Alexa Bliss gave a great interview, saying being around Wyatt is like a moth to a flame.
She couldn’t answer when asked about how Strowman’s words last week made her feel.
Segment 9
Big e vs. Morrison 2.0
Another okay match was interupted when Otis came out to confront Miz at the anniunce table and the lights flickerered.
Michael Cole called for security as we headed to commercial
Segment 10
Despite the match being interrupted by Retribution destroying the backstage area (the Smackdown locker room was all at ringside), Big E won with the sams leg stretch he beat the Miz with.
Segment 11
Strowman called out the Fiend, but Alexa Bliss came out instead. They then had a great exchange that saw Strowman pick her up in a press slam.
He eventually tossed her into the air as the lights went out.
The Fiend appeared in the ring next to Bliss, while Strowman was now on the tittantron laughing manically.
The Fiend quickly joined him. Looks like Strowman did return home, and it’s up to Wyatt to make the monster heel.
