This is where we really get to have some fun at predicting what feuds we think will start or continue through WWE Smackdown and Payback.
Intercontinental Championship – Jeff Hardy vs. AJ Styles
We expect a rematch between the pair at Payback simply because there isn’t time to start a new storyline and build to a championship match.
This will happen because Jeff will want to prove his win wasn’t a fluke and that he’s better than Styles.
It’ll be a good match as it’s hard to imagine these two doing anything besides good matches.
Besides, it’ll be fun to see them face off again as they have great chemistry and match up really well. Maybe we’ll even see a title change to make things really interesting going forward.
Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Cross
Nikki said there was a change in Alexa since her time with the Fiend, and it’s expected as everyone that’s around him changes.
IN this case, we think Alexa will be more like an anti hero than a goody-goody face, and Nikki may become desperate to get the old Alexa back.
We can see Nikki doing something similar to what Alexa did to Braun Strowman a couple of weeks back, and we think it’ll backfire just like it did for Alexa.
There’s a price to pay for being the one to tame Bray Wyatt’s demon, and Nikki may be the first one on that list for simply trying to be a friend.
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs. Naomi
After her win over Bayley last week, Naomi has a strong case to challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Championship and we think that match will be set on tonight’s WWE Smackdown.
It may even be one of those moments where Bayley says she’ll face her if she beats Sasha Banks, and Banks will take offense at being volunteered again.
Banks would then “throw” her match against Naomi, or she’ll call out Bayley for offering more help to protect herself than she did Banks’ Raw Women’s Championship.
While we don’t expect Naomi to succeed in her challenge for the championship, this will go a long way to pushing the Banks-Bayley rivalry we’ve been teased forward.
Matt Riddle and Sheamus vs. King Corbin and Shorty G
It’s been oddly quiet between these two the last few weeks aside of a run by attack by Corbin.
While Riddle has absorbed some of Corbin’s best shots, we think he’ll finally get his chance in a tag team match with Sheamus as his partner against King Corbin and Shorty G.
Though to be fair, this feels more like a match for tonight’s WWE Smackdown that will lead to a singles match between Riddle and Corbin.
Since Corbin has cost Sheamus two wins over the last couple of weeks, the Celtic Warrior is going to insert him in Corbin’s affairs to even the score and turn heel in the near future, so why not start here?
