When Undisputed Era decided to stop a match between Killian Dain & Drake Maverick, they didn’t think of what would come next. Adam Cole needed time to call out Pat McAfee ahead of their match at NXT Takeover XXX, and took that time. Since then, Maverick has gone against Kyle O’Reilly and lost.
After that match Undisputed Era attacked Maverick again, but Dain came to his aid… before dropping him as well. Now, Dain gets a match against Roderick Strong, and while Undisputed Era are never far, Maverick might not let Dain fight alone.
Roderick Strong Brought Backup
Strong brought Fish for his corner, not that he will truly need him to beat Dain. He’d use his speed early on to antagonize Dain, but a chop to the back wouldn’t bother his opponent. Strong would flee to the outside, and use Fish as a distraction for some cheap shots.
This would give Strong an early advantage, until Dain got going again, slamming Strong’s head into the corner and dropping him with a lariat. Strong came back with a running kick, and Dain would go to the apron. He’d fend Strong off, but take a kick to the back of the leg from Fish.
Killian Dain Falls To Numbers Disadvantage
This allowed Strong to take control fully, him using his speed and technical skill to take Dain on. Dain would get moving, and the Beast Of Belfast would be unleashed, hitting The Divide Crossbody for a near fall. Fish would try to distract Dain by yelling very loudly, but Dain had tunnel vision.
Strong tried for the olympic slam, but Dain resisted and hit a wheelbarrow slam into a senton. Strong would be pulled out of the way of the Vader Bomb by Fish, who’d be taken down by Dain with a lariat. However turning around, one flush knee to the chin of Dain would drop him, and Strong got a win.
Following the match, Dain would be stomped out by Fish & Strong, but Maverick with a metal pipe would come to his aid. He’d be beaten down, but Dain would get the pipe, and they’d run for the hills at this sight. However, Dain would punch Maverick in the face instead of shaking his hand.
Maverick & Dain are now linked in a weird way, but this could be great for the lacking NXT Tag Team Division. Do you think we’ll see them make their tag team debut soon against Fish & Strong?
