After failing to regain the NXT North American Championship at NXT Takeover XXX, Velveteen Dream is ready to get back to winning. He’s refound his edge, and is more dangerous than ever. Ashante Adonis would be his challenger tonight, and if nothing else, Dream is much more fashionable, and this would be an easy win… right?
Velveteen Dream Starts His Winning Ways Again
Dream would insult the gear of his opponent and be shoved, before taking more time to taunt his opponent. Adonis would come back with some jaw jacking of his own, but get slapped in the face and sent to the corner.
He’d come out with a huge lariat, and take control of the NXT regular. A big back body drop, dropkick, huge DDT and a superkick attempt would be an impressive flurry of offense from this rookie, who had Dream on the ropes.
The superkick would nearly get the referee however. An eye poke from Dream would be followed by the Dream Valley Driver in the middle of the ring, for a much harder fought win than expected.
KUSHIDA Takes A Pound Of Flesh In The Name Of Revenge
Following the match, Dream would take the microphone to get some words of the NXT universe, but would be jumped by KUSHIDA! Weeks ago following a triple threat match, Dream would beat down KUSHIDA, some disrespect for the japanese legend in the making. He’d get his revenge tonight.
Dream would have KUSHIDA pull off him initially, but KUSHIDA had the arm. He’d drag The Dream into the corner hard a few times, before locking in a nasty armbar with the ropes helping him tear the arm apart. This was the most deadly we’ve seen KUSHIDA in WWE, adding a much needed edge that has been missing.
People are rightfully upset about Dream returning to WWE given the allegations of being a child predator. WWE has cleared him of any wrongdoing at this time, and is going forward with him on NXT. For the time, we’re going to see some strong matches from KUSHIDA & Velveteen Dream, which could be huge for KUSHIDA going forward.
