Ever since WWE introduced the Women’s Royal Rumble, it has doubled the excitement of one of their best annual shows. The list of winners is that of the best in the division, with them being Becky Lynch, Asuka & Charlotte Flair. In 2021, someone will join this elite company, but WWE could use this match to elevate one of their up and coming stars?
Rhea Ripley Has Unfinished Business In WWE
At Wrestlemania earlier this year, Rhea Ripley defended the NXT Women’s Championship in the best wrestling match of the two night event. She failed to defeat the Royal Rumble winner, Charlotte Flair, and lost her championship, one she is still trying to regain to this day. However, WWE clearly sees huge potential in the young star that is Rhea Ripley, with her quickly outgrowing NXT.
Ripley could avenge her loss to Charlotte Flair by eliminating her to win the Royal Rumble, and go onto Wrestlemania to become the first woman to win a championship in NXT UK, NXT and WWE. She has fan support, the look of a champion, and unlimited potential, even WWE can’t ignore this one.
Naomi Is Ready For Her Chance
Earlier this year at the Royal Rumble, Naomi came back and captured the interest of fans everywhere. Everyone thought this was her time to shine, but 2020 has been another dull year for her. She has athletic prowess, a great look, and is constantly improving in the ring, but WWE keeps failing to give her the spotlight fans feel she deserves.
Naomi is a two time Smackdown Women’s Champion, and while WWE is likely to drag the angle between Sasha Banks & Bayley all the way to Wrestlemania, Naomi could look to add the RAW Women’s Championship to her resume. This would give her the sustained push fans have wanted, and give Naomi the sink or swim moment she needs to find her true potential in WWE.
Sonya Deville Could Come Back With A Vengeance
While Naomi has had a bad 2020, Sonya Deville was able to prove herself as a future star in WWE. Her feud with Mandy Rose gave her much needed microphone time, which showed her potential as an all around great wrestler. The only issue she ran into was a scary situation outside of the ring, a potential kidnapping which was the reason she has taken some time off from WWE.
In storyline, she lost a ‘Loser Leaves Town’ match, but those rarely stick. A Royal Rumble return and win could establish her as one of the biggest stars in the women’s division, a role WWE has considered. She was previously set to meet Asuka at Wrestlemania for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, however that belt was sucked into Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey, and now it could be time for her to get her Wrestlemania moment.
