With Clash of Champions now in the rearview window, WWE Raw comes in fairly clean and ready for new storylines two weeks ahead of the WWE Draft.
The draft is one of the reasons we assume the WWE has been quiet as of this writing about what to expect on tonight’s WWE Raw.
The biggest reason may be the WWE is working on how to explain three of their top female competitors were unable to perform last night after not being medically cleared.
Jax and Baszler not cleared to compete
This is just 100% rumor, but there are whispers on social media among sites and fans that Shayna Baszler, Nia Jaz, and Nikki Cross (her situation will be addressed on Smackdown) have been exposed to Covid-19.
This doesn’t mean they have it, but may have been exposed to it.
This is assuming this is true, which we’re not doing. It’s very possible they suffered legitimate injuries. Baszler did look a little timid at the end of last week’s Raw, as though she were favoring an injury.
There’s a thousand and one reasons why they didn’t compete, including storyline given the WWE loves to tap into real world issues and use them. This could be a weird play off the whole testing practice.
Only the wrestlers and higher ups know for sure, and none of them are going to tell us the truth at this moment.
So, since it’s going to be addressed tonight, we’re assuming it’s going to be through the Riott Squad, as Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan will probably give a scathing promo about how they chickened out or something similar.
This would be something that would push Jax and Baszler’s buttons and heighten their desire to lay a beating on the Riott Squad, though this doesn’t feel quite right.
Most likely, it’ll be attributed to a training accident where Baszler and Jax beat each other up too much to compete.
One thing is for sure, if the two of the appear and are around anyone else, it’ll put the rumors of Covid to bed.
If they don’t, said rumors will spread faster than the virus itself.
Asuka vs. Zelina Vega
One storyline that’s set to continue on WWE Raw is Asuka and Zelina Vega.
After her win last night, Vega won Asuka’s respect, but Vega chose to the heel way out when Asuka offered her hand.
It wasn’t unexpected as Peyton Royce is still building for her shot at the title and the WWE has a long history of preferring the heels outnumber the champion for a sense of heroicness.
What will be interesting to see is will the WWE seek to wrap up this storyline with another match tonight, or will they draw it out over the next few weeks?
Upcoming draft
With the WWE Draft two weeks away (October 9 on Smackdown and conclude October 12 on WW Raw), we think these storylines and matches are ones the WWE would like to complete in the next two weeks if they want to keep us in suspense for the upcoming draft.
Since the draft outcomes are as predetermined as the matches, tonight and next weeks are going to be curious to see what feuds are started for Hell in a Cell, and will this be one of them?
Not that it’ll really matter, since they just shuffle people back and forth afterwards like they’ve done since the beginning.
To be honest, the brand split is a concept that hasn’t worked after the first attempt and the WWE always regrets their choices.
We’ll have to wait and see how it all works out.
