Hello and thank you for joining us on the anniversary of 9/11 as WWE Smackdown Live Results gets ready to get things rolling.
Tonight should be a good show as Bray Wyatt will introduce a new member of the Firefly Fun House, Bayley will speak about her attack on Sasha Banks, and Jeff Hardy will defend his Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles.
Plus, we’re sure to see a tribute to those that died on 9/11 19 years ago, as well as a possible replay of Vince McMahon iconic speech from two days after on that Smackdown.
So grab some drinks and snack and settle in. We’ll see you at showtime at 8 pm EST.
Segment 1
Roman Reigns and Jey Uso exchanged pleasantries in the ring when King Corbin and Sheamus came out and Jey challenged them to a tag team match.
Jey sent them both out of the ring, but Reigns didn’t say if he would accept yet or not.
Segment 2
Intercontinental Championship – Jeff Hardy (c) vs. AJ Styles
Sami Zayn had a mini meltdown before the match started and was escorted out.
Styles got the jump on Jeff, but Jeff hiw with a Twist of Fate, then missed with a senton bomb as we headed to commerical.
Yeah, that fast.
Segment 3
A good match ended in disqualification when Zayn pulled Styles off the apron as he was about to attempt a Phenominal Forearm, then he also attacked Jeff.
It was announced Reigns and Jey will Face Corbin and Sheamus later.
Jeff collaped on the ramp in pain while leaving teh ring.
Segment 4
They came back claiming Jeff was dehydrated. Wanna bet they’re going to claim he’s taking something again for his storyline?
Styles said he can beat Zayn and Jeff and he doesn’t care where. Guess we’ll see them at Clash of Champions.
Segment 5
Cesaro and Shinuke Nakamura vs. Lucha House Party (Kalisto and Gran Metalik)
This was a good match until the Street Profits appeared on the titantron having a party in Cesaro and Nakamura’s championship lounge.
Kalisto took advantage of the distraction to roll Cesaro up for the pin.
Segment 6
Bayley said she knew Sasha Banks would betray her and had been using her, because Bayley had been using her.
She added that after alst week, Banks was useless to her.
FYI the boos over the PA system are more annoying than canned laughter. Just saying.
Nikki Cross came out for a Fatal Four Way to face Bayley at Clash of Champions, and Bayley hit her from behind with a steel chair as we headed to commercial.
Segment 7
Smackdown Women’s Number 1 Contender Fatal Four Way – Nikki Cross vs. Tamina vs. Lacey Evans vs. Alexa Bliss
(No Naomi?)
This is a really good match where Alexa and Nikki worked together until Alexa hit her with a Sister Abagail on the floor in front of the commentators before going to commercial.
Segment 8
Nikki eventually rolled up Tamine for the win. Everyone shined in this awesome match.
Segment 9
Otis vs. John Morrison
This was a meh match that served to have the Miz steal Otis’ lunchbox, thinking the MITB contract is inside like last week.
Betcha he switched it up.
Segment 10
Otis did switch it up, and a upset Miz is calling in a favor.
The Firefly Fun House introduced Wobbly Walrus, the new special advisor to the Fun House.
Segment 11
King Corbin and Sheamus vs Jey Uso and Roman Reigns
Corbin and Sheamus dominated Jey throughout, and Reigns showed up at the end for an obligatory spear and pin on Sheamus.
This was just… weak. it was predictable when Reigns didn’t come out to start that match.
This is obviously his new MO to let others to the work so he can claim an easy victory. He’s looking more and more like a Friday Night Messiah.
Looks like Reigns is goign to remain a Rollins 2.0 for the time being.
Over all, this was a really good show until the end. The match just felt flat and was on par with Otis and Morrison’s.
We’re sure we’ll get used to this new methodology before too long. What did you think of it?
