There was no other match that could main event the first ever episode of AEW Dynamite, than something involving The Elite. Being The Elite led to All In, which led to the creation of All Elite Wrestling. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks are the core of this faction, and they’d take on Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz. Jericho is the AEW Champion, and Santana & Ortiz are his enforcers, making this a pretty even fight, but The Elite dwarf almost all other trios in terms of experience.
Showing Why They Are Elite
Kenny Omega would start for The Elite, alongside Chris Jericho. These are two great rivals, and what the fans wanted to see, the crowd was ready… and Santana was tagged in. Omega would go right at him, hitting big strikes, the basement dropkick and the Kotoro Crusher, a classic combo.
Ortiz would come in to help his partner, and be sent to the outside as well. Finally, Jericho would come in and almost get Omega in the Liontamer, before eating a double superkick. This one broke down quickly, and The Young Bucks would have it no other way, and Omega was ready to fly… until Jon Moxley came to the ring.
These two brawled at the end of Double Or Nothing, with Moxley getting the better of Omega, and they’d pick up right where they left off. For some reason, the referee didn’t throw the match out, but Omega would no longer be in this one.
Jon Moxley Brings Some Unscripted Violence
Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley would brawl their way through the excited and sold out crowd, while The Young Bucks would be beaten down in the ring. Omega would channel ‘The Cleaner’, and hit Moxley with a mop.
Moxley would respond to this by hitting him with the Paradigm Shift through a glass table, taking him fully out of this match. They’d clash on and off until Full Gear, when Moxley & Omega met in a brutal Lights Out match, Moxley winning on his way to the AEW Championship.
The Young Bucks Were Outgunned
Even a team as good as The Young Bucks had a chance when this one became three on two. They had one of the best tag teams in the world, and Chris Jericho. Matt Jackson would hit a spear, but couldn’t make a tag due to Santana, and would then be brutalized with a series of tag team moves as Jericho cheered his allies on. Matt would kick out, but this only prolonged the inevitable.
Jericho tagged in and went for the Lionsault, Matt getting the knees up to block. Ortiz would again cut the tag off, and Matt would hit the cutter out of the corner, then hitting his Locomotion Northern Lights Suplexes. Nick Jackson would finally tag in, and tear Santana & Ortiz apart before unloading kicks and dives on anyone not related to him.
Young Bucks would set up the Meltzer Driver, but Jericho intercepted with a Codebreaker. Santana & Ortiz hit the Street Sweeper, and one Judas Effect from Jericho ended this one.
Following this match, Chris Jericho would get some more help in beating down The Elite, and something special was born. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
