The debut of Adam Copeland for All Elite Wrestling would see the void left by the firing of CM Punk filled. Formerly known as Edge in WWE where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame – Copeland brings decades of experience to AEW, and has already found a younger name to share wisdom with.
Adam Copeland Sees A Lot Of Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy In Darby Allin
While appearing on Talk Is Jericho alongside fellow AEW star Chris Jericho – Adam Copeland would praise Darby Allin. Copeland had the following to say about Allin.
“I was like, ‘You’re Rey Mysterio with Jeff Hardy splashed all over you’, and that’s awesome. He just got that thing, but he knows how to sell and he knows how to be aggressive and when to be aggressive, and it’s fun to see him. Then in meeting him and just seeing his attitude, you know, I really, really think that guy’s special.”
With Copeland & Allin both feuding with Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne – it’s likely they will team up before long on AEW TV. Add in Sting, and you have a trios match worthy of the main event spot on either AEW Dynamite or AEW Collision.
Copeland Started Making Money When People Cared About His Character – Not His Moves
When it comes to how Copeland views professional wrestling in 2023 – he would have the following to say.
“I sound like one of the grizzled old timers now, but like, everybody can do moves, but where do you put them and do they care about the character that’s doing the moves? That to me is key. We did TLC matches to get noticed, so I understand it. I really do, but when I really started making money in this business and getting reactions is when I made them care about the character.”
Both Copeland & Jericho were in action last night for AEW Title Tuesday. Copeland won his AEW debut in the main event, defeating Luchasaurus in singles action. Meanwhile, Jericho was crushed by Powerhouse Hobbs – and is expected to be off AEW programming for a few weeks as he recovers.
