Even though she’s endured plenty of smack downs in the ring (while also giving them out fairly often, too) something like this has never happened to Ronda Rousey before! The WWE star turned Hollywood actress recently suffered quite a setback while filming for a new television show. Who knew that working behind the cameras could be just as dangerous as fighting in the octagon? Here’s what you need to know.
Ronda nearly severed one of her fingers while filming for the upcoming third season of Fox’s 9-1-1. Apparently, Ronda says that on the very first day of filming a boat door slammed on her finger! Sources say that the accident was actually a self-inflicted one, as the actress was a little “over exuberant” and slammed the door on her finger herself. OUCH!
Ronda Rousey Nearly Loses Her Finger!
At first Ronda didn’t think that the accident was that bad as she didn’t look like she was severely injured. It wasn’t until her finger got worse did she realize that she needed to head to the nearest hospital. Ronda even continued her scene without missing a beat. Talk about a professional, right? Hey, we always knew that she was tough. She wrote on Instagram, “I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to.”
Sharing a photo of her injury, it wasn’t until after the scene that Ronda realized the extend of her injury. “I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws,” Rousey wrote. “I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover.”
