Bobby Lashley has been back in the WWE for two years, but he is now at the top of his game. Being aligned with the Hurt Business has made Lashley was one of the most frightening stars on the roster, and there is now trust being put in the former MMA star. Lashley won the United States championship from Apollo Crews back at Payback, and successfully defended the gold at Clash of Champions. However, following the draft, there is a need for a fresh opponent for Lashley, but who could we see step up?
WWE News: Ricochet
If the WWE want to continue with the same story that they have been telling over the past couple of months revolving around the Hurt Business and Ricochet/Apollo Crews, then the obvious contender for the United States Championship would be Ricochet. Crews has already had his chances against the Almighty one, and Ricochet would bring something new to the table. He has been underused for a number of months now, and a meaningful feud with Lashley would see him get the airtime that he deserves.
WWE News: Matt Riddle
Matt Riddle arrived on SmackDown with a huge reputation, but he has yet to live up to that. Riddle was stuck in a feud with King Corbin for what felt like a lifetime, and there’s no doubting that the move to Raw should see him come into his own. There will be an interesting story to tell between Riddle and Lashley, as both enjoyed a career in MMA and that could be used in a rivalry between the two superstars. Being involved in the United States championship picture would elevate Riddle, and that is precisely what he needs at present.
WWE News: Angel Garza
The WWE had huge plans for Angel Garza when he made his main roster debut, and now he is no longer part of a tag team, we could see him given the spot light to shine as a singles star. Obviously, something will need to change with his character if he is to oppose Lashley, as the two stars being against each other would make very little sense. However, it would be nice to see Garza given a spot light to shine, and Lashley has all the ability to help him in that spot.
