Killian Dain has failed to get out of his tag team with Drake Maverick, and now they have a date with former NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium, which Dain only learned earlier today. Maverick is determined to make this team work, and pitched the name “The Fury & The Furry”, which likely won’t stick. What will stick, is another win leading them to a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Imperium Tears Drake Maverick Apart
Killian Dain would start this match, and quickly decided to use Maverick like a weapon. This led to Imperium isolating Maverick in their corner, beating him down with a flurry of punches and stomps, only for Maverick to boot down Aichner and crawl to make a tag to Dain.
The Beast Of Belfast came into the match and man handled the former NXT Tag Team Champions for a moment, before being dropped with a spinebuster and a PK. Aichner attempted a suplex, and Dain countered into one of his own and made the choice to tag Maverick back in.
The speed of Maverick would give Aichner trouble as he’d be tripped into the middle turnbuckle. On the outside, Dain was sent into the steel steps, and Maverick was soon shut down with the European Bomb. You don’t step to former champions and expect to walk away with a win. Imperium are masters in that ring, they isolated and conquered.
“No One Hits You But Me”
Following this match, EverRise would come to mock Maverick, asking where his big partner was now. Dain came out of nowhere and suplexed them both. Maverick feared a shot from Dain, but he had some words for Maverick. “No one hits you but me.”
That will be the tag team mantra for this odd couple tag team, and if they can work on their chemistry and get on the same page? They’re going to be a deadly duo. Speed & power is a strong proven combo, and it’ll serve them well. Right now, teams like Ever-Rise are possible for Dain to steamroll, but they need to improve to rise in the ranks. Expect some team building comedy vignettes.
