With the WWE Draft starting next Friday, this WWE Smackdown looks like it’ll be a treading water episode with come story elements added in.
It makes sense since they don’t want to get too involved in storylines as it’d mess up any surprise and/or relevance the draft will have.
Just please, don’t do the Fox war room thing again. Please no.
Intercontinental Championship – Sami Zayn (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
Anyway, getting back to the treading water part, we’re going to get another Intercontinental Championship match between Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy.
This match feels like a time and space waster as the feud should’ve officially ended at Clash of Champions.
But nope, we get so see Hardy try to correct the wrong committed on him by Zayn outthinking him and AJ Styles.
Which also brings up the question will Styles interfere in this match somehow?
We’d be remiss not to expect that and a final Triple Threat match between the three of them before the draft.
We expect Sami Zayn to retain his championship as Hardy or Styles winning feels like a meaningless victory.
The KO Show featuring Alexa Bliss
Over the last couple of weeks, Alexa Bliss has shown her darker possessed side whenever the Fiend is mentioned or appears.
So far, her victims include Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans. Evans ate a Sister Abigail twice, and following the second one, we got to see an awesome evil look and smile from Alexa.
She’s awesome at expressing herself, so here’s to many more moments to see her at work with this angle.
With no one able to break through to help her, they’ve called in Kevin Owens from Raw (could he be moving back to Smackdown via the draft?) who is great at creating conflict on the KO Show.
This is where it’s captured out attention as we have little doubt he’ll trigger Alexa in some way, so we’re assuming he’s going to try to stop her from doing whatever she will, and The Fiend will appear.
This will most likely trigger a feud between Owen and Bray Wyatt, meaning one or the other will be switching shows again.
It also leaves the door open to what exactly is planned for Alexa going forward. Will she be the Fiend’s accomplice, or will she target the women’s division and become another version of the Fiend.
Honestly, this is one storyline we’ve been enjoying and are excited to see how it continues moving forward on WWE Smackdown or WWE Raw.
One thing for sure is this has the potential to be a fun run.
