This spot on the card was originally planned for Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears, but after Sky came into contact with an individual with COVID-19, the ol’ Card Subject To Change rule came into play. Instead, The Young Bucks get a chance to redeem a loss to Private Party, one of the early upsets in AEW.
With Matt Jackson coming in injured, we could see another big win for Private Party, and one that would kill any momentum they have as they face FTR in 3 days at Full Gear!
On the way to the ring, Sammy Guevara would take out Matt Hardy who was going to be in the corner of Private Party for this match. An eye for an eye, very simple.
Private Party Want Another Upset
Nick Jackson & Marq Quen started this match, Quen getting a headlock and being shoved off. Nick would try to use a dropdown to bewilder his opponent, only to have Quen flip and land on his feet, but have the wrist snatched. An impressive armdrag would follow, followed by an armdrag takedown. Matt Jackson would be tagged in, but limping around the ring.
He wouldn’t do much, just goad Isiah Kassidy in and hit a drop toehold, letting Nick hit a slingshot leg drop. The Young Bucks would start to bust out their tag team skills, hitting a suplex on Kassidy and then dropping Quen on him as well. Matt would hit a dive to the outside afterwards, and hurt his leg further.
Quen would tag into the match and dive right onto Matt, getting a two count, and followed up with a dropkick. Nick came in, but was hit with a flurry of double team offense by Private Party, ending with Matt being tossed right onto his fallen brother. Private Party would hit dives to the outside, taking out both Young Bucks.
Nick was sent back into the ring, and hit with a double backdrop. Private Party both went up for dives, but Kassidy was pushed off to the ramp by Matt, and Quen had to think on the fly. Matt would make a blind tag in, but Nick threw a few strikes in the opposite corner and hit the Bulldog/Dropkick combo.
Nick didn’t stay out long, tagging back in for an elevated Swanton Bomb, getting a near fall. Kassidy was again taken out on the outside, and the Meltzer Driver was set, but Quen reversed out and took out both opponents as we went to a commercial break.
Don’t Count The Young Bucks Ou
Coming back from the break, Young Bucks were back in control but Quen had countered a double hip toss and got the tag to Kassidy. Kassidy would take out both Bucks and kept the pace fast. He’d hit a stunner over the top rope on Matt and send him to the outside, before diving onto both opponents.
Back in the ring, this would get a two count. Private Party had more tag team offense, with Quen becoming legal and hitting a moonsault onto the back of Nick. Matt Jackson couldn’t even stand in the corner, and Private Party would hit Gin & Juice on Nick, but Matt hobbled in to make the save.
Kassidy would throw Matt out, and Quen went for the Shooting Star Press. This would miss, and Matt rushed in with a last ditch effort spear. Quen would be set up for the Meltzer Driver, but again counter, this time into a pinfall getting a close two count. Matt would throw a superkick with the bad leg but Quen would lag and be hit by Nick. The BTE Trigger would end the match shortly after.
FTR came to the ring and wanted to break the leg of Matt for good, but Hangman Page and Kenny Omega made the save of their friends. Will Matt Jackson’s leg last through the match with FTR at Full Gear? Could The Elite be fine? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
