WWE fans were left shocked this past week following the main event of Raw. Many expected Randy Orton to go on and challenge Roman Reigns in the main event of Survivor Series, but there was one final swerve for fans, as he lost the championship back to Drew McIntyre.
Orton had been enjoying the best year of his career, but it seems to be falling short of being his best ever following a recent stale run. Orton’s title reign was underwhelming to say the least, while his programme with McIntyre also got stale towards the end. However, there is still life in Orton with weeks to go in 2020 to showcase why he has been the star of this calendar year. But, what could he do next?
WWE News: One More WWE Championship Opportunity
Orton’s latest run with the championship lasted just 20 days, but he will still believe that he is the rightful owner despite losing his rematch against McIntyre on Monday. That could lead to Orton demanding another opportunity at the final PPV of the year. This is a likely route that the WWE could go down, but it’s certainly clear that the Viper shouldn’t be winning back the title.
WWE News: Joins Team Raw
Survivor Series is one of the biggest shows of the year, and at present, it looks as though Orton will be left off the card. Orton may try and get his spot on the card during the show on Sunday by taking out one of the other members of the team; likely Riddle. That would be an easy way for the WWE to take Orton away from the title picture, and lead him on to a fresh feud to end the calendar year. However, it doesn’t seem that likely that this will happen.
WWE News: Traded To SmackDown?
The feud between Orton and Reigns is still something that would interest the WWE Universe, and both superstars have teased it multiple times throughout the year. It could be an excellent story between the two, but it will need to start with Orton moving to SmackDown. It is also unclear how the story could potentially work, as both stars are currently heels, and neither will want to turn face for the sake of the rivalry. For the time being, it would seem that Orton will be staying on Monday nights.
