Ever since he came back to WWE earlier this year, we’ve had a new Roman Reigns. A better Roman Reigns, a more dangerous Roman Reigns than ever before! This is a man who would beat his cousin to a pulp to prove a point, and now a classic rival is back. Kevin Owens wanted to get back to the top of the WWE, and anyone who knew anything about him knows that he is someone who will fight until his last dying breath.
Much like their previous matches, this was an instant classic. Owens showed he was tough and resourceful, and perhaps one of Reigns best rivals. There were crazy bumps aplenty, Jey Uso had his ankle mangled when he tried to get involved, yet still stood by his cousin to help him defend.
Kevin Owens went through tables, ladders and more, showing that he doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit. He just kept on fighting, took out Reigns with a pop up powerbomb through a table, fought off Jey Uso for the third time, only to be punched low and choked out on-top of the ladder. At that point, Reigns just had to reach up.
Roman Reigns Is Unstoppable, And Needs To Be To Keep With Wrestlemania Plans
Over the past few months, Roman Reigns has become as strong as peak Brock Lesnar. He’s been damn near unstoppable, as even if you can deal with him, you have Heyman and The Usos as well. Owens wrestled a perfect match here, he did just about everything right, but Reigns was simply too much. It won’t be easy to find the right formula to actually drop The Tribal Chief.
Add in that the reported main event for next year’s Wrestlemania will be Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship and it’ll be hard to imagine him losing the belt between now and then. That is a match WWE has wanted for years, and they have a chance to put two people that are practically superhuman in the match. WWE wants big main event matches, and this one could be the wrestling match equivalent to a AAA Blockbuster movie.
No Shame In Kevin Owens
The best part of this current iteration of Roman Reigns is how good his opponents look by going through these huge matches with him. Jey Uso was elevated to a main event level, Drew McIntyre looked better than ever, and Kevin Owens looked like a terminator in this match. It took Reigns an insane amount of help to beat Owens, who looked about as good as he ever did.
Tonight showed the Kevin Owens that fans have wanted to see since he left NXT and took John Cena to the limit. If WWE keeps going with this feud thanks to a dirty finish, Kevin Owens might finally reach his full potential in WWE.
It seems unlikely that Reigns will lose the belt before Wrestlemania, but will he keep feuding with Owens in 2021? Who else would make a good challenger? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
