WWE Smackdown Results have mixed feeling about this as the match started with Nakamura attempting a rear waist lock.
But Otis pulled free and they exchanged arm bars before Otis hit a body slam and headbutt for a pin attempt.
Nakamura rolled to the apron and hit with a kick, then hung him over the apron to his with a running knee.
In the ring, Nakamura hit a series of strong knees, then a series of kicks but they didn’t have any affect.
Otis hit with a clothesline and a face slam, and a spinning lariat off the ropes.
Otis followed it with a splash in the corner and started the caterpillar, but Gable stopped him and told him to go for a suplex instead.
Nakamura took advantage of the distraction to roll Otis up for a near pin, and Otis responded with an exploder and Vader Bomb for the pin.
Backstage, Sami Zayn prepared for the first annual Sami Awards by berating a tech for not polishing his trophies.
Big E arrived laughing manically after Zayn left and sorted through Zayn’s notes. This is going to be good.
Gable and Otis celebrated Otis’ win. Gable then asked why didn’t he hit the caterpillar, and Otis said he thought it was a test.
Gable said it was, and that he’s not supposed to do what Gable says but what he means and that he’ll get it.
1st Annual Sami Awards – Big E’s surprise
Sami Zayn came out and slammed the Slammys (we have to agree with him on this one), and said the Sami Awards are for the people.
He called up a quick WWE 2020 year of review that was focused solely on Sami Zayn for being the sol bright spot all year for his accomplishments and so on.
After the video, he prepared to announce the first award — Comeback of the Year.
And the winner is… Sami Zayn. Big surprise.
The next award is for the Match of the Year, and the winner is… Sami Zayn defeated Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship.
The final award, Superstar of the Year, is for Big E.
That’s the first award he got right, and Big E came out to celebrate and kept shoving Zayn away as he gave his acceptance speech.
Zayn pushed him away to announce the real superstar of the year, and Big E hit a low blow with his Sami. This is where a joke about two Samis meeting would come in handy.
Big E then bounced him off a table and threw him down the ramp toward the ring before thanking everyone to close out his acceptance.
This was everything WWE Smackdown Results expected and it was awesome.
