After watching WWE for a while. It seems like some wrestlers have now been giving some creative control over their character. This being Roman Reigns, the Fiend and maybe Daniel Bryan. Roman Reigns’ current heel turn is one of the reasons that Smackdown has become one of the best wrestling shows.
The Fiend was the best thing in WWE for a time. Before it felt like creative got involved booking the Fiend to lose at a terrible time. Then there’s Daniel Bryan, who has been said to book some matches in Smackdown. Therefore, proving that a wrestler can really improve their own character if given the chance.
Giving wrestlers creative control could increase viewers
The viewers have been dropping on a regular occasion on both Raw and Smackdown. Although Smackdown has greatly improved in the entertainment factor. Raw has nearly become unwatchable over the past couple of months.
With terrible stories and booking. If the control is given to the wrestlers, it could improve all of this. As it feels like the writers don’t know how to book every wrestler. This isn’t a surprise as the actual person could write their own story better than a writer.
As they are obviously much more knowledgeable of their character compared to the writing team. There are so many wrestlers who feel like they just get the same story copied and pasted to them to save time. With no long term booking overtime.
Who could benefit the most?
There are so many wrestlers who would benefit from getting creative control. This includes Aleister Black, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles but the biggest area that could benefit would be the tag team division. As they are the worst part of the WWE at the moment. With constant breaking up of strong tag teams.
Then it ends up with repeats of the same feuds over and over again. Making the whole division feel very stale and not worth watching. With it seeming like they don’t even care about it. This means that they might as well give some freedom to see how it shines.
