Tyson Fury has fought some of the biggest names on the heavyweight scene throughout his illustrious career, but one of the opponents that went under the radar and nearly caused a massive shock has targeted a re-match against the unbeaten British fighter.
Otto Wallin put in an excellent display against Tyson Fury when the two fighters met back in September 2019, as the British fighter claimed the win by decision. Wallin is only one of ten fighters that have gone the distance with the Brit throughout his career, which meant that he joined illustrious company in the form of Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko.
Boxing News: Wallin Targeting Re-Match
Wallin was a surprise opponent for Fury at the time, but he ensured that Fury remembered who he was, as he inflicted a cut in the fight that ensured the now-heavyweight champion was forced to struggle through the contest. The fight was certainly a stepping stone for Fury, as he had his sights set on the rematch with Wilder, which would take place less than a year later.
The Brit reclaimed the heavyweight title in that fight, as he knocked out the American in the seventh round of their contest. However, the Swedish challenger has revealed that he is targeting a return date with the Brit, as he has unfinished business. However, the Swede would be ill-advised to look past a huge upcoming date that he has with fellow heavyweight contender Dominic Breazeale.
Boxing News: Huge Heavyweight Contest For Swedish Star
Before even thinking ahead to bigger fights, the Swede must successfully navigate his way past a huge challenge in a couple of weeks. However, Wallin has shown throughout his career that he should be taken very seriously by those that step in the ring with him. He has become a regular challenger since that appearance against Fury, as his recent fight also took place in the United States. On that occasion, he knocked out Travis Kauffman, but this will be a step up in quality.
There is no denying that Breazeale is one of the fighters that are just below the top standard. He is one of very few fighters that have challenged for the IBF and WBC world titles during his career, but he lost both title fights. The defeats that he has suffered against Anthony Joshua and Wilder remain the only two times that he has been beaten in the ring, which highlights the challenge awaiting Wallin.
