Looks like the Paul Wight is #AllElite as AEW scored a win in their bid to add proven talent when they signed Wight (AKA Big Show) to a long term contract.
He’ll perform as a wrestler and commentator on AEW’s new youtube show on Wednesdays called AEW Dark: Elevation.

Elevation is designed to showcase current and new talent on the AEW roster as well as other Indie performers.
From thewrap.com, on Wednesday, Paul Wight said:
“It’s been amazing to watch what AEW has built in just a couple of years. AEW Dark is an incredible platform to hone the skills of up-and-coming wrestlers, but I also love that established AEW talent can build out their personalities and showcase themselves in new ways on Dark. It’s no exaggeration when they say that AEW is boundless.”
AEW’s CEO, GM, head of creator, and owner Tony Kahn added:
“Paul Wight is one of the most recognizable and impressive professional athletes in the world. He wanted to come to AEW because he believes that we’re the best promotion in wrestling, and we believe that he has a lot to offer us, both in the ring as a wrestler, and also outside the ring as a commentator, host and ambassador for AEW.
“Paul is one of the most experienced stars in all of wrestling, and he’s eager to work with our diverse roster. He can benefit and guide our young talent with his mentorship, and his expert commentary on AEW Dark: Elevation will educate and entertain our fans, and also educate the younger wrestlers on the roster. Furthermore, Paul enters AEW as a licensed wrestler, and he’s very much looking forward to studying our talent firsthand from the commentary desk in preparation for his return to the ring!”
Announcement and new name
AEW will make the official on air announcement that Paul Wight is #AllElite on tonight’s AEW Dynamite (2/24).
Since the Big Show name is owned by the WWE, it’s rumored he’ll use the name Paul Wight or Great Paul Wight that he’s used when WWE released him in the past.
If the Chris Jericho signing to start AEW started the Wednesday Night Wars, this is a heavy salvo that’ll signal to the older veterans that just appear that they could wrestle and/or commentate again.
It’s reminiscent of the Monday Night Wars and how Vince McMahon forced Randy Savage to the announce table and then out as a result of Savage wanting to wrestle as he wanted new talent.
It may be a different scenario, but it feels like it’s along the same lines.
How big an impact will Paul Wight make tonight and was this a smart move by AEW? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
