Since Impact Wrestling entered into a partnership with AEW a few months ago, we’ve expressed the idea that it appears they were creating a territory system similar to the old territories the WWE put out of business.
AEW quickly entered into a partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and now Impact Wrestling as followed suit.
The best part it starts this Tuesday when Juice Robinson and David Finlay appear on Impact Wrestling’s AXS TV and Twitch channel for their weekly show.
It’s also been announced that Kazuchika Okada is taking part in NJPW’s new partnership with AEW and Impact Wrestling as well.
This is something we’re looking forward to as the new budding territory system is worldwide and comes at a time when the WWE is branching out into India and following their staking a claim in the UK.

This leads to questions as to what role Robinson and Finlay will play in Impact, and we’re thinking FinnJuice will be the Good Brothers (Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows) next challengers.
It’s a reasonable idea since the Good Brothers held off Private Party and James Storm and Chris Sabin.
Of course, they’ll have to go through a couple other teams first, but that’s expected.
New opportunities
Business aspects aside, this opens to many doors for the wrestlers as they get to move into new areas and are exposed to more fans than they may have been able to previously.
It also give us as fans a great chance to see new faces and skills as they create new rivalries. For us, at least.
It’ll only make things more exciting and fun for everyone involved.
The forbidden door’s been open, and we can thank the various heads of companies for coming together and, we assume, listening to their talent that have ties to NJPW and other companies.
Things had to change and they did.
For a while Kahn has reportedly stated he didn’t want AEW to promote other company championships as it was giving them free promotion, but he eventually changed his mind and things are getting exciting.
Throughout the pandemic he’s been instrumental in helping to keep the new NWA afloat by having their stars appear on his shows.
Al Snow has also had several performers from other companies appear in OVW, and so has Impact Wrestling.
Old school is new again
It’s a cool new trend that’s getting rolling and it.
There was a time when wrestlers moved from one territory to another, putting them at the forefront of the business as the names Bruiser Brody, Andre the Giant, and Hulk Hogan drew fans regularly.
It wasn’t a perfect system, but it gave wrestlers the freedom to move around and work for those they wanted to instead of being always being locked into serving only one company.
With the WWE taking over the national airwaves in the 1980s, they slowly crush the territories and their united federation, the NWA.
We’ve said this many times before, but this is a great time to be a wrestling fan despite it not being as mainstream as during the Monday Night Wars.
What do you think of the new three-way partnership?
