On Friday, 19th February, Buckingham Palace released a statement. It said, “The duke and duchess have confirmed to Her Majesty The Queen that they will not be returning as working members of the royal family.”

“Following conversations with the duke, the queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of the royal family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service. The honorary military appointments and royal patronages held by the duke and duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty before being redistributed among working members of the royal family.”
Queen Elizabeth II added, “While we are all saddened by their decision, the duke and duchess remain much-loved members of the family.”
Also, Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson released a statement to Us weekly, saying, “As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
Harry and Megan will retain their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, and Prince Harry remains the sixth in line to the British throne. Several organizations that the duo were patrons of, including the governing body of English rugby and and the UK’s National Theatre also released statements. They thanked them for their work.

With Prince Harry and Megan stepping down permanently from royal duties, the palace reported that the Queen had confirmed that it was “not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service”. So, their official links with the military, Commonwealth, and charitable organizations have been cut off.
Prince Harry is no longer the captain general of the Royal Marines and is longer linked with with RAF Honington and the Rugby Football Union (RFU). Megan Markle is also no longer the royal patron of the National Theatre. The duo have also stepped down from being the president and vice-president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
The announcement is coming just days after Prince Harry and his wife announced that they are expecting their second child.
However, the duo have started their new life, building the foundations of their media empire with several high-profile deals. Last year, the duo announced their deal with Spotify and Netflix.
