WWE Raw Results returned as Styles was in the ring and going on about Kingston trying to recreate KofiMania. He pointed out how Kingston fought his way into the match and it’s almost like it’s his destiny.
Styles said it’s not because he’ll destroy his hopes, dreams, and fantasy of becoming WWE Champion again. He said it wasn’t Kingston’s fault since it’s against him, and to be positive about it.
Styles said it’s a warmup and it makes him Phenomenal.
He then promised that he’ll mow through everyone in the gauntlet match and ride it all the way to the championship.
He added it’s a fact that he’ll be the WWE Champion. Kingston then came out to get the match started.
Gauntlet Match Round One – AJ Styles w/Omos vs. Kofi Kingston w/Xavier Woods
Woods was missing during Kingston’s match against the Miz, so we’ll see if he can help Kingston out in this match.
Styles went right after Kingston’s injured knee, but Kingston fought him off with a knee lift.
Styles caught him with a kick and then hammered Kingston down before slamming him into the corner to pound away some more.
Styles whipped Kingston into the opposite corner, byt missed his clothesline when Kingston sidestepped him and Kingston hit a couple of rights and a knee.
A headbutt and a running knee to Styles led to a pin attempt.
Styles nailed him in the throat, and hit a belly to back suplex, followed by an attempt to throw Kingston to the floor, but Kingston landed on the apron instead.
Styles hit with a kick to Kingston’s injured leg, and Kingston pulled the rope down so Styles went to the floor, and then hit a backdrop on Styles on the floor.
Woods kept playing his trombone and Omos grabbed him by the throat and carried him to the barricade and dropped him over it.
Kingston got into Omos’ face and the referee ejected Omos from ringside. While the referee was busy, Styles hit a running chop block on Kingston’s injured leg as we headed to commercial.
Phenomenal for the win
Back from commercial, they were back in the ring with Styles stomping Kingston and working on his injured leg.
Styles locked in a one leg Boston crab, but Kingston managed to turn over and roll Styles up for a pin attempt.
Kingston hit an SOS after blocking Style’s clothesline attempt, but Kingston couldn’t attempt a pin.
Styles hit Kingston knee with another chop block, and Styles pushed him into a corner and kicked his leg, then put him on the top rope.
Kingston fought Styles off and pushed him into a face plant on the mat and hit a splash to Styles’ back for a pin attempt.
Kingston went for a dropkick, but Styles caught him and hit a DDT to Kingston’s injured leg.
Styles hit a Phenomenal Forearm for the pin. This was a good match, but WWE Raw Results expected Kingston was doomed from the beginning, though he put up a good fight.
It’s be fun to see him and Styles go at it again at some point.
