There comes a time in everyone’s career in WWE when they need to pay the McMahon Tax. You’ll end up in a feud or enter the ring with a member of the McMahon family, and it’ll probably be Shane McMahon. This is the case tonight with Braun Strowman, who was all set to take on Shane McMahon in a singles match.
Shane McMahon Is Injured, Replaces Himself With Elias
Their issue all stems from Braun Strowman being blamed for halting RAW Underground, a segment on Monday Night RAW that was handled by Shane McMahon. However, as said by the WWE Network Twitter account, “During warm-ups for WWE Fastlane, Shane McMahon goes down in pain with an apparent knee injury.” We’d see the footage on the show, and he landed awkward after a knee strike.
Earlier in the show, McMahon was interrupted by Elias & Jaxson Ryker, and they’d buddy up for the night. Elias would get to perform at the ThunderDome, and in exchange he took the spot of Strowman in tonight’s match. This was learned by Elias at the last second too.
Braun Strowman Steamrolls Elias
After seeing the footage of Shane McMahon embarrassing him on Monday Night RAW again, Strowman was unhinged. Strowman cornered Elias and hit some back elbow strikes. Elias slipped outside to get some help from Ryker, before being pulled to the apron and slammed off the post.
A clubbing blow to the chest would be followed normally with a running press in the corner, but Ryker pulled him out. Strowman ran through Elias on the outside, and Ryker sent Elias back in before pulling the attention of Strowman. Elias hit a chop block and a DDT, before going up for an elbow drop, but only got a one count.
