We’re nearly at the two night spectacle that will be Wrestlemania 37, but there is one last PPV stop on the way. This is Fastlane, a card which almost feels like a preview of what is to come at Wrestlemania, and that could change it as well. The main event sees Roman Reigns defend the Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan, which is only the tip of the iceberg on this stacked card. Let’s break down all the action.
Daniel Bryan Has One More Chance To Get In The Main Event Of Wrestlemania
Ever since he won the Elimination Chamber match, only to be forced to face Roman Reigns moments later, Daniel Bryan has hit a new level. He’s the best technical wrestler in the company today, and feels he belongs in the main event of Wrestlemania. Tonight is his last chance to make this happen.
He beat Jey Uso in a steel cage match to get here, and Edge will be the guest enforcer to keep things clean. If Daniel Bryan beats Roman Reigns tonight, he’s going to the main event of Wrestlemania to face Edge. It’s one of the biggest matches of his WWE career, and we all know Bryan is a big match wrestler.
Randy Orton Faces Alexa Bliss In Singles Action?
This is a weird one on paper, and even weirder in practice. Ever since Randy Orton burned The Fiend alive at TLC, he’s instead been dealing with Alexa Bliss, who was entranced by the Fiend.
She’s told Orton that to get rid of her, he will need to take her out at Fastlane. Thus we apparently will be seeing a one on one match between Randy Orton and Alexa Bliss. This is a weird one, and who knows what the outcome will actually be.
Riddle Defends United States Championship Against Mustafa Ali
Riddle claimed his first singles title in WWE at Elimination Chamber, when he pinned John Morrison to win the United States Championship. Now it’s time to defend, and it’ll be against the leader of Retribution in Mustafa Ali. Riddle has already beaten Ali on Monday Night RAW, but accepted the offer for the rematch.
We could see Retribution at ringside here, potentially putting Riddle at 4 to 1 odds, and rendering any potential championship advantages useless. However, if he proves himself tonight, it might become clear that Riddle is here to stay as champion.
Sheamus & Drew McIntyre Meet In No-DQ Clash
For months now, the friendship of McIntyre & Sheamus has been gone, and tonight could be the final nail in the coffin. They’ve brutalized each other in excellent matches on Monday Night RAW, but tonight there are no rules as they meet in a No Disqualification Match. This means they can do whatever they want to each other, and use whatever weapons they want.
Adding some spice is that McIntyre is set to challenge for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 37. Current champion Bobby Lashley will be watching closely, as a win from Sheamus tonight could change his plans for Wrestlemania, and even if McIntyre wins, he can exploit the damage suffered on the road to Wrestlemania.
Big E Looks To End The Championship Dreams Of Apollo Crews
It feels like we’ve seen Big E defend the Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews many times, but tonight he gets the real Apollo Crews for the first time. Done living a lie, Crews is embracing his Nigerian ancestry and natural athletic gifts fully, making him a dangerous athlete with a killer instinct that we’ve not seen before from him. This could be the end of Big E as champion, and a helluva fight no matter what.
Also pre-announced is Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, and a defense of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. What are you most looking forward to at Fastlane?
