WWE NXT Preview for 03/03/2021 [Dakota Kai & Shanya Baszler Face Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler, Ciampa & Thatcher Meet Lorcan & Burch]

It’s time for another episode from WWE’s black and gold brand, and this week features a rare appearance from main roster champions. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and NXT alumni Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler are in the house to defend against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez. Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa are also in action to face the NXT Tag Team Champions. Let’s break down both these big matches!

Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez Look To Prove They’re The Best Tag Team In WWE

It’s been known for a while that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships would be better suited down in NXT. That’s where the women’s tag team division thrives, as shown by the excellent Female Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez were the winners of that tournament, besting Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon at NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day.

In the process, they earned a shot at the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax & Shanya Bazler. Both are alumni of NXT, with Baszler being a two time NXT Women’s Champion. Baszler used to terrify Kai during her time in NXT, while Nia Jax was called one of the biggest badasses Dusty Rhodes ever met. However, they would be fools to overlook Kai & Gonzalez, who have been teaming for over a year now.

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch Get Into A Non-Title Fight

MSK are next in line for a shot at the NXT Tag Team Champions, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch. However, after a cowardly attack from The Grizzled Young Veterans last week, Wes Lee is out of action with a broken hand. Lorcan & Burch called this a ‘blessing in disguise’, something which Tommaso Ciampa overheard. Ciampa hates people who fake being tough, with even Thatcher needing to prove himself to Ciampa in the Fight Pit.

Tonight, Ciampa & Thatcher will meet Lorcan & Burch in a non-title match. Basically, four of the hardest hitters on the WWE roster will meet and not hold anything back. If Ciampa & Thatcher can pick up a win tonight, they would be in the conversation for a shot after MSK, or sooner depending on the injury of Wes Lee.
