WWE Smackdown Results returned to find Corey Graves in the steel cage to outline the three ways to win – submission, pin, or escaping through the door or over the top.
He pointed out a cameraman sitting atop of the cage to give us a sense as to what the superstars will feel if they choose to climb out.
Steel Cage Match – Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso
This should be a good match as Daniel Bryan will face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Fastlane if he wins. If not, the title is safe until WrestleMania.
One the two were inside the cage, Roman Reigns came out with Paul Heyman to watch the match and possibly influence the outcome.
Heyman brought over a comfortable office chair for Reigns to sit in on the ramp.
They started off exchanging blows in the middle of the ring, and Jey reversed a whip to send Bryan into the cage in front of Reigns, and then smashed him into the cage over and over.
The whole time, Jey told him to acknowledge Reigns and when he didn’t Reigns ordered Jey to do more.
Jey picked Bryan up and drove him headfirst into the cage.
Jey called for the door, but Bryan caught him in time and Jey hammered away on him and then headed up the side of the cage.
Again, Bryan caught him and they smashed each other’s heads into the steel cage while standing on the top rope.
Jey dropped down and pulled Bryan’s foot to hang him up on the top rope. Jey followed it with a right, and slammed Bryan into the turnbuckled.
Jey tried to do it on the other side, but Bryan blocked it and slammed Jey’s head into the cage several times, the climbed the top rope to hit a missile dropkick.
Bryan then hit a running kick to Jey’s left arm and locked in an armbar before dricing Jey shoulder first into the cage.
Bryan hit an armbreaker and threw Jey into the cage again.
Jey reversed a whip into the corner and Bryan flipped over him when Jey charged in. Bryan then headed to the top and tried to climb out, but Jey caught him and dropped him on the tope rope.
Jey then stomped on Bryan’s injured knee while Bryan was hung up on the tope rope.
Bryan caught Jey at the top of the cage and forced him down with a headbutt. Jey then hit s Samoan Drop off the top rope.
Bryan finds a way
Back from commercial and they were both straddling the top of the cage and Jey pulled Bryan back into the cage.
Bryan slammed Jey into the cage and then hit Yes! Kicks on the top rope, and Jey hit a superkick to send Bryan to the mat and followed it with a Uso Splash for a near pinfall.
Jey crawled toward the door but Bryan caught him by the foot, but Jey hit a step up kick, and Bryan hit a kick and Jey then hit a superkick for a near pinfall.
Bryan grabbed Jey and rolled him up for a pin attempt, then hit a series of elbows before Jey reversed and nailed him with a series of rights and forearms.
Jey then slingshot Bryan face first into the cage. Jey took some time to gather himself and then headed to escape over the top.
Bryan caught him as Jey was about to cross over, and Bryan hit a pair of headbutts and got over the top, but Jey pulled him back in.
Bryan slammed Jey’s left arm into the cage and hit a butterfly suplex off the top rope and rolled into a Yes! Lock.
Jey made it to the rope but it doesn’t work as a break in a steel cage, and Jey tapped out.
Reigns didn’t look happy ad Bryan celebrated his win.
This was a good match and we’re grateful no one interfered in the match.
Overall, it was a pretty good show and the matches and storylines were a good mix and entertaining.
We give it a 7.5 out of ten stars.
